Vehicle Detail
LANCIA DELTA HF INTEGRALE 16V!! From what I understand this is one of only a handful in the country with US Titles! Very rare car in the US, I've never seen another on the road or even for sale in this country. ***UPDATE*** I'VE HAD A LOT OF QUESTIONS REGARDING THE HISTORY, TITLE, ETC.... AGAIN, ALL I KNOW IS WHAT I HAVE NOW, THE HISTORY NOTED BELOW AND WHAT'S DOCUMENTED WITH CARFAX AND AUTOCHECK. HOWEVER, A NUMBER OF PEOPLE FROM THE LANCIA COMMUNITY WITH KNOWLEDGE OF PREVIOUS SALES OF THE CAR HAVE REACHED OUT TO ME AND BELIEVE THE CAR IS TITLED LEGALLY, MOST LIKELY SOMETHING LEFT BEHIND BY A DIPLOMAT THAT BROUGHT IT INTO THE COUNTRY. I HAVE NO INFORMATION TO CONFIRM OR DENY THIS, BUT THOUGHT I WOULD PASS IT ON. I HAVE POSTED PICS OF:1. The Current NY Title 2. The Lien Release showing that the lien has been satisfied (Names blurred for privacy)3. The VIN Plate under the hood of the car If you don't know the story behind this car, google it, but simply put, the Lancia Delta Integrale was the winningist most car in rally history and it dominated world rally in the late 80s and early 90s. I have owned the car for about six months and it is registered and inspected in New York, with a NY State title. I do not know how or when it was imported to the US, but I had no problems registering it in New York. I bought it from a gentleman in Colorado, received with a colorado title and from what I can gather, the owner before him is the one that brought it in and originally registered and titled it in New York. The previous owner had the timing belt changed, turbo rebuilt and one of the half shafts replaced. I got it with the intention of tuning it and adding some of the EVO III bits, but just haven't had time to do much with it. I have chased down a few gremlins and it's now running well. We've found and repaired a couple of fuel leaks and frayed wires, but really haven't had the opportunity to drive it much and I'm realizing I'll probably never find the time to do the enhancements I was hoping to do, so it probably makes sense to pass it on to someone else with more time and attention for it. The Good- Fresh Timing Belt (I finally received a service invoice from the previous owner verifying that the timing belt, turbo, halfshaft and several other miscellaneous things were taken care of with a $3,795 service in November of 2010. Invoice included in slideshow)- Rebuilt Turbo- Suspension feels tight and has no shakes or rattles- It's all there, has low miles and is one of only a few in the country with a title- New Tires- Overall the car feels mechanically sound (engine feels strong, does not smoke, power is good once the turbo spools up, trans shifts smooth, clutch engagement is good, stops well and feels tight, even the AC was working in a recent test drive)- It comes with a complete shop manual! The Bad- Paint is pretty poor, the front end (hood and fenders) have definitely been painted and it shows since it's faded and uneven. There are numerous nicks, chips and touch up spots. With a little work, it could be made to look like a purposeful street machine, but it is by no means a show car.- Windshield has a crack- Stereo currently inoperable- The 'IE' light comes on occasionally, I believe this is something like a check engine light- Carpets are tired and seats show wear- Headliner is sagging, has a tear in the sunroof panel and the insulation is crumbling.- I have no knowledge of the import history or mechanical history prior to the previous owner.- While I fixed the gremlins I found, there could be more waiting to surface, overall the car needs to be driven and "shaken down" some more than I have time for now. DisclaimerWhile I strongly believe that this car's core mechanicals are stout and the car can be made to be strong and reliable, I haven't driven it enough to attest to it's reliability. It is also an Italian car from the late 80s, loaded with cutting-edge technology for it's time (read: "things that are bound to fail at some point") and anyone owning this car, or any other italian machinery from this era, should be prepared to get familiar with the mechanical workings of the car. I've chased some mechanical gremlins and while some have taken us a while to find, every time it has been something minor (a wire grounds out or shakes loose, a hose cracked, etc...) and every time we found the problem, the car fired up and ran strong again. You should expect to find more issues like this and have to remedy them over time or go through a thorough check and cleanup of the car to ensure reliability.... I have limited knowledge of these cars in particular and don't have a reference point for the car or knowledge of what common issues to look for. I'm sure some knowledgable bidders will have pertinent questions about the car and be sure to post whatever answers I have for all to see. Payment$1,500 deposit due within 24 hours, Balance due within 7 Days. Happy Bidding!! Also, please see the response below to one of the bidders discribing what I know about the history."...I do have a dealer's license, but my primary business is Classic Car Club Manhattan. I bought this car thinking I would add it to my fleet for members to drive, but I wanted to bring it up to speed with the look of the later EVO models and never got around to it... now that I'm in the full swing of summer I need to put my attention towards other projects so I figured I should let the Lancia go. Honestly, I bought the car on a bit of a whim since a couple of members were interested in it, I've always wanted to drive one and the price was right. I didn't do a whole lot of research before buying the car and only have the limited history from the previous owner. Here is what I do know and have paperwork for (CarFax and Autocheck can confirm this):- The first US registrant seems a guy with a very italian sounding name in New York in January 2004 (I have the registration from this owner in my paperwork)- The second US owner was the gentleman I bought it from in Colorado. He sold it to me with a Colorado Title- I took the Colorado title and bill of sale to NYS DMV and now have a New York Title, registration and even the inspection went through on the VIN that is on the car. I do not have any import papers or knowledge of how or when it was brought into the country, but since it's been registered, titled and inspected twice in New York now, once in Colorado and has a documented history with both Carfax and Autocheck, I have no reason to suspect it's validity. Please feel free to call me with any further questions..."
