Vehicle Detail
NO RESERVE!!! You are looking at a 1968 International Scout 800 that I am selling for a friend and I will describe It the best I can from what I know and what I was told. It started out life as a small Firetruck at a Manufacturing Plant and later the Forest Fire Service. It is all original except for the paint. It has 45,248 ORIGINAL miles! Fire Dept. Vehicles do not get many miles on them going to and from calls. I believe the motor could be a 266, 304, 345 or 352 V8 I am not sure which on it is, as I have been told by many different "so called experts" each engine listed here. You-Be-The-Judge on whic engine It is. I believe is original and It is an International Motor with a Holley 2bbl carb. It runs good, takes a while to warm up but runs good afterwards. It does need a partial exhaust from the manifold to the straight pipe before the muffler and could probably be patched in with a piece of tubing. This Little truck being so small (100in wheelbase) has so much power with the V8. It has a Beacon Ray light on the top, siren on the bumper and siren control box in the cab. I do have some other things that can go with the truck: some hose a nozzel and some other little stuff. Other than that It could just be your regular half-cab Scout. It is a Driver and can be driven and used but is not a concourse vehicle. The paint shines nice and the outer body has no rust but there are rust issues shown from picture 18 on. The bed is rusted inside the rear wheelwells on both sides (Pic 18) and 2 repair panels have been made to hide this for Car shows and such. The bed floor has a new piece of sheet metal installed so I assume It has some rust as well. There are various other small pin hole rust areas on the half cab roof as seen from pic 19-22. The floor pans in the cab have been repaired with new welded in sheet metal see pics 14 and 15. There a couple of other small holes that can be easilly repaired. It has BRAND NEW Tires on nice stock steel wheels with trim rings, LOOKS SHARP! Most guages seem to work but not the fuel guage, there are 2 fuel tanks with a changeover switch and both tanks are operable. It is a 4 speed which shifts well and clutch seems good. The manual brakes work well and stop the vehicle. The manual steering steers well but has a tad bit of play. The undercarrige and suspension are solid and seems to be tight. No real fluid leaks just the usual wet under the pans. It has locking 4x4 hubs, high/low shifters and has heavy duty skid plates. This truck could be one hell of an Off-Roader. Can be restored into an original half cab Scout or keep as a Firetruck. Either way, It is Cool. Leave It alone and just drive It, perfectly presentable truck to take to shows, take the top and doors off, just a COOL RIDE! YOU WILL NOT BE DISAPPOINTED IN THIS SCOUT!!!
