Vehicle Detail

This is a rare 1964 1/2 Ford Mustang coupe. It's an original 289 V8 4barrel 4 speed car from California. The car is was sold new in Dallas Texas where it was bought buy the original owner. He sold it to his son, who also kept it in Texas. He then sold it to a gentleman who took it to California wher it stayed for the next 25 years. It was then brought to Iowa, wher it was stored in a heated garage and only driven on sunny days. I then purchased the car as the fourth owner (I believe). The odometer shows only 58,000 miles which I believe to be correct and accurate. The car is completely original, having all the original 289 engine, 4 speed transmission, rear end, etc. The sheet metal is also all factory- no steel has been replaced anywhere on the car. It even still has the original quarter panel drains intact! The trunk floor is clean enought to eat off of and the floor pans are totally solid. The rear frame rails are perfectly solid as are the torque boxes and front subframe. The only rust on the entire car is a small spot on the right rear quarter above the wheel lip. The previous owner said he got door dinged and forgot to touch it up before it started to rust. There are a few very minor bubbles on the left side lower and one on the drivers door lower. Other than those three spots the car is immaculate. It had one repaint somewhere in the 80's, and is starting to show it's age. It looks great from all angles, but has the typical chip and dings here and there. It does have a scratch in the paint on the right rear quarter and a small dent on the left door. It looks great and shows nice, but would probably need to be repainted to be a perfect show winner. The interior is very clean. The dash is perfect, no cracks; the seats are also in great shape. It has the original 64 only style carpet the goes to the sill plate only, and has vinyl that covers the inner rockers. The carpet does have a rub mark next to the accelerator, other than that looks good. The factory radio hole has not been butchered like most, and has the factory radio. An aftermarket radio has been added and is inside the glovebox. I was going to remove it, but will leave that up to the winning bidder. The previous owner told me the engine and transmission had both been rebuilt at some point. The car drives very strong, and shifts well. It does have a slight vibration at highway speeds- I'm guessing a u-joint or out of balance driveshaft but haven't gotten a chance to diagnose it further. The car was inspected and the front brake wheel cylinders were slightly leaking- both have been replaced with new. The brakes pads were replaced all around, new front and rear springs, and kyb shocks added at all four corners. The front sway bar was also replaced with a larger model at some point. The front suspension is tight, and the car drives very nicely down the road and handles great. All 4 tires are brand new. It has dual exhaust with chrome tips and sounds great! This is an extremely clean example of a 1964 1/2 Mustang, built June 2nd, of 1964. I had originally planned on building a restomod with it until I discovered just how clean and original it really is. I have a passion for Mustangs and can't bring myself to modify this car- so I've decided to let someone else who can also appreciate the car for what it is take over ownership of it! I've tried to explain the car in detail to the best of my abilities. Please ask any questions prior to bidding and PLEASE- do not bid if you don't intend to buy! The car is available for viewing and I encourage you to come take a look at it if you wish. Sold as is where is, buyer will be responsible for a $500 deposit due within 24hrs of end of auction. Remainder will be due within 7 days unless otherwise agreed upon after sale. The car is stored inside and can remain indoors until time of pickup; I can also keep the car longer if needed- but will still need to be paid in full within the 7 days. Thanks for looking, and good luck bidding! On Jul-10-11 at 17:51:25 PDT, seller added the following information: Apparently EBay won't allow picture changes this late in the auction? It requires me to delete a few before adding more, but won't let me delete any?? Anyway, the fender stamped vin and the door data tag are identical; 5F07D154078. It was built at the Dearborn Michigan plant. The door tag data is as follows; Body= 65A, hard top, standard interior, bucket seats Color= K, the rare silver smoke grey (obviously red now) Trim= 86, black vinyl with black appointments Date=02F, June 2nd, 1964 DSO= sold new in Dallas Texas Axle=1, 3.00:1 Trans=5, 4 speed manual. To clarify- I do have a clear title for this car in my name and the registration is currently good through September of this year. I also neglected to mention that the engine currently has en Edelbrock carburator on it. There is an original C5 stamped Ford 4 barrel carb in the trunk that goes with the car. The fuel tank was also replaced with a new one within the past few years. Thanks again for looking.
