Up for auction is an EXTREMELY rare 1963 Supercharged R2 4speed Daytona with 75,000 DOCUMENTED miles. It is not often that a factory built R2 Lark comes up for sale. It is even less often when that car has only 75,000 miles. The Virginia State Police inpected this car many times over the years and the multiple inspection slips they issued substantiate that the mileage is correct. This R2 Daytona was built at the factory exactly as it is today (with the exception of some upgrades like brand new radial tires and Turner disc brakes). Some of the options include: Factory installed and NUMBERS MATCHING R2 Supercharged engine 160 speedometer (worth about 750.00 alone) Heavy Duty front suspension Heavy Duty rear suspension (seven leaf springs) Tachometer Dana 44 rear end with 3.73 gears 4 speed transmission Large rear finned drums Red Bucket seats (still wearing dealer installed covers) Velvet black exterior Dual exhausts with glass packs The vehicle is what I would call a semi survivor as it has been repainted once and is 99.9% original and the way it left the factory, yet loaded with NOS parts installed in the last few years. I would best would describe it as a wonderful driver that would love a full restoration. The paint on the car is deep and looks fantastic from 10 feet, but it has its share of little chips and a car like this deserves a new paint job. The interior is decent but certainly not up to show specs. The dealer installed seats covers are still on after almost 50 years and to be honest I dont know if they are split or whatever and didnt want to remove them until I was ready to redo the interior. The guages all work to the best of my knowledge as do the lights, horn,heater,etc. The chrome on the bumpers is very nice and these were NOS replacements. All the trim is in place and the grill and headlight bezels are NOS as is the R2 grill badge. All the chrome letters are in great shape and none are missing. NOS door handles, NOS fender emblems,NOS mirrors. Even the hood ornament is NOS. All glass is in FANTASTIC condition with few scratches and new rubber seals front and back. The tires are BRAND NEW and ready to cruise. The car is very solid with minimal rust but not perfect. I have never lifted the carpet but I believe there is a small patch in the floor although it feels rock solid under my feet and looks pretty solid from under the car. The trunk is also solid but needs a little work. The frame looks to be in very nice shape as well, as you can see in the pictures it even has the original emergency brake hardware in tact. Mechanically the car is very good and to the best of my knowledge all systems are working properly . This car drives very straight and stops on a dime. It has a new top of the line TURNER modern disc brake kit installed with new lines and modern master cylinder. The 4 speed has been completely rebuilt and shifts beautifully and DOES NOT pop out of gear. The engine runs great, sounds INCREDIBLE and blows no smoke. The carter carb has been completely rebuilt within the past few years and will look fantastic with a little clean up. All the engine bay chrome has been professionally rechromed and looks fantastic! The battery and hold down is new. Solenoid, regulator and brake switches are new. Windshield wiper motor is NOS. Radiator is beautiful with bright green antifreeze. NOS alternator. NOS fuel pump. NOS fuel filter. Rebuilt HD water pump. Brand new battery cables.ALL new stickers. NEW return springs, etc.,etc., Virtually ALL of the misc. nuts ,bolts, and washers on the engine are brand new. Brand new heater, radiator and supercharger hoses with new factory correct clamps. New coil and resister. Brand new belts. Correct Paxton eight hole SN-60 has been professionally rebuilt and works great. New silicone fan clutch. Look closely at the details of the engine compartment and you will see how factory correct and new most of it is. This part of the car has been restored to VERY high standards and is already done for you. Overall , this car is extremely mechanically sound with great brightwork as well. This little supercharged lark, while certainly no show car, has had many thousands of dollars in NOS and rechromed parts installed over the past few years. Add to that a few thousand more in mechanical parts and labor, and you have one hell of an updated and refreshed driver that is of a very rare pedigree. On top of that.......one of the neatest things about this car is the fact that virtually every bracket,clip and wire are the way they were installed at the factory as it has been basically a time capsule with ONLY 75,000 MILES!!!! A great car to drive and have fun with or restore to the fullest potential. Either way, this is one RARE low mileage machine.
