Up for "NO RESERVE" auction: 1972 Mercedes 280SE 4.5 with 62k original miles!. Originally a California car, this 2 owner car was purchased in 1980 by the second owner. (we have the bill of sale) He purchased the car with 51,000 miles and only brought it out on weekends and special occasions. We have some service records dating back to the mid to late 80's documenting the mileage. The car was always kept in a climate controlled garage. There is no rust issues, and there has never been any rust repairs. Inside and out this 4.5 is in amazing condition. The floor boards and rockers are very solid, never having any repair. The paint is in excellent condition with some minor defects, but nothing very noticeable(small scratch on pass door that has been touched up). The chrome as you can see in the pictures is in excellent condition as well. The interior is also very well preserved with the exception of the wood around the windshield (slightly faded). Mechanically there are no issues, and prior to listing we had our mechanic give it a once over. He replaced the rear calipers and pads, and did a complete tune up with plugs and wires. The tires are in good shape with about 70% tread left. The engine runs smooth and has plenty of power. The transmission shifts perfectly. The suspension is tight, and handles great. No shakes or shimmy's, and drives great on the highway. All of the electronics work as they should, including the air conditioning (blows cold/134a). As you can see in the undercarriage pictures, there are no fluid leaks. Overall this investment quality 4.5 is very well preserved!
