Vehicle Detail

Thank you for looking! Up for your consideration is my 1979 Honda CT90, Trail 90, that is in very nice condition, both cosmetically and mechanically. It is the 438th Trail 90 built by Honda for the 1979 model year. The 1979 model year started with VIN 5000011. I am the second owner of this great vintage motorcycle. The mileage is correct as I know that this CT90 spent the majority of it's life on the back of a motor home while it traveled around the Country. On the handle bars you can see, if you are looking, where the tie-down straps rubbed into the paint on the bars. This is not a restored Honda. I would consider it to be tastefully cosmetically enhanced. You may be looking at the pictures wondering why the engine guard and luggage rack are not chrome. I decided to have them powder coated in a textured black finish, along with the front foot peg assembly, the spare gas can and mounting bracket, the chain guard, the side kick stand, and the points and magneto cover. With out a side by side comparison to another 79 you would think that all of this is original. Besides, do you really want to polish chrome when you could be riding the trails? The chrome on the wheels, head light, and turn signals is not pitted or peeling and does polish up well. Speaking of original, the only other things not original to the bike are the new fuel lines, the new Yuasa 6-volt battery, the new gas tank and yes I do have the original tank and cap, the rear passenger foot peg rubbers, I have the originals, and various new cotter keys. I did install a new chain and kept the original and master link. I do believe that the tires on this CT90 are original. They are made by Cheng Shin and are not weather cracked. Hold air too! The black mirrors are not original to the bike but do look like they are. I believe that all bulbs are original and the lighting covers are too. I did repaint the front fender and the air box assembly in the original Tahitian Red color. You could color sand them or leave them as is. All of the screws/bolts/hardware on the frame etc. were removed and cleaned. I do not have the original owners manual, I do have the original tools and pouch. I also have the original sales brochure and the original dealer transfer certificate for the original owner. So, how does she run? EXCELLENT!!! I can start her up with one kick and no choke. Let her warm up and off you go. All 8 gears work flawlessly. The resettable trip odometer works like it should! I have had the brakes apart and the shoes are original with at least 99% wear left. Original points and a new NGK plug. Lot's of miles and smiles left on this great old Honda. EVERYTHING works on this bike, right down to the horn! I do know that it is missing a few stickers, ie., "Trail 90", chain guard, inside battery cover, and spare gas can BUT they are all available. And, the 2 keys that I have both work the ignition switch, the fork lock, and the helmet lock. What more do you need? If you have any questions, E-mail me and I will reply! I did put a Reserve on this CT90, consistent with NADA mid range values. I do not want to just up and give it away. This is one of the nicest CT90s seen here on Ebay this Spring and Summer! On Jun-15-11 at 05:53:38 PDT, seller added the following information: One more item to note.....Since I had the swing arm apart as well as the side kick stand I went ahead and greased the bushings and bolts/shafts for the swing arm and the side kick stand. The front and rear brake axles were also greased when the brakes were inspected. On Jun-18-11 at 07:16:40 PDT, seller added the following information: I have decided to throw in with the CT90 an original 1979 CT90 Factory Honda Service Manual. These are getting difficult to locate and are not inexpensive when you do find one. AND, I am also going to include a motorcycle/bicycle full protective breatheable cover with a storage pouch. Great deal for a great Trail 90!
