Aptly named “Deus ex Machina”, which translates to “God out of the machine” We here at Global Imports BMW are very proud to offer this one of a kind opportunity for someone to own a most unique piece of art and machine!. We are happy and graciously donating ALL proceeds from this auction to benefit the recent tornado victims in North Georgia by donating the proceeds to the American Red Cross. Mark creatively, brought back the BMW Art Car which was originally introduced in 1975 with the first being commissioned by Alexander Calder with the 3.0 CSL. Since the initial creation there have been 16 various commissions created by varying famous pop icons as Andy Warhol, Roy Lichtenstein, and R Rauschenberg to name a few. The concept of BMW automobiles as mobile canvases of symbolism and expression raced around the track creating stunning visuals by several artists. This current Art Car adds to the historical collection that examines connections between auto technology and cultural trends during the 70s, 80s and 90s. Together, the art cars form a mirror of contemporary culture, as exemplary as it is unique. The BMW Art Cars reflect the cultural-historical development of art, design and technology and have been exhibited at museums around the world, including the Louvre in Paris, the Royal Academy in London, the Whitney Museum of Modern Art in New York, the Palazzo Grassi in Venice, the Powerhouse Museum in Sydney and at the Guggenheim museums in New York and Bilbao. BMW Art Cars will also continue to document the fascinating symbiosis of art and technology at future international exhibitions. Mark Boomershine was born in Atlanta in 1971. Boomershine has traveled the world exploring vast cultures and how they represent themselves artistically. He gravitated toward the power of the pop art movement and uses simplistic images offset by meaningful words about the artists subject. The result brings to life both the imagery and insight in the individual being painted. Through his techniques, motivated by the palette and provocation of pop art, the viewer is able to experience a total immersion in the multidimensional quality of each subject.
