HERE YOU HAVE A FIRST YEAR HONDA CR250M, MANUFACTURED IN 1973. PLEASE NOTE THE ENGINE SERIAL NUMBER BLOCK IS OF THE DESIGN OF ONE OF THE VERY EARLY MODELS IN THAT THE NUMBER SPANS ONLY ONE LINE. THE CLUTCH COVER TELLS THIS IS A VERY EARLY MODEL AS IT DOES NOT HAVE THE OIL LEVEL CHECK BOLT – VERY RARE AND VERY EARLY! THIS MOTORCYLE SPENT MOST OF ITS LIFE AS A FLAT TRACKER, YES IT IS HARD TO BELIEVE BUT IT EXPLAINS WHY ALL THE PLASTIC WAS STILL PRISTINE WHEN THIS RESTORATION STARTED. IN FACT, THE FRONT NUMBER PLATE AND SIDE PANELS WERE NOT EVEN ON THE BIKE BUT HAD BEEN STORED ON A SHELF FOR MANY YEARS. LOOK CLOSE AND YOU CAN TELL THAT THIS WAS A COMPLETE RESTORATION WITH NO ITEM OVERLOOKED. MOTOR THE MOTOR HAD RECENTLY GONE THROUGH A REBUILD BEFORE IT WAS PURCHASED AND THE LOWER END WAS VERY MUCH WITHIN SPEC. THE ITEMS REPLACED IN THE MOTOR WERE: FRESH BORE AT +1.00MM FRESH PISTON, PIN, AND BEARING NEW CLUTCH PLATES NEW POINTS, CONDENSOR, AND PLUG MOTOR HAS NOT EVEN BEEN FIRED SINCE RESTORATION CARBUERATOR CLEANED, BUFFED, AND CHOKE LINKAGE AND HARDWARE RE-PLATED PIPE AND SILENCER HAVE BEEN BEAD BLASTED AND PAINTED, NEARLY FLAWLESS ITEMS VINTAGE IRON REPLACEMENT AIR FILTER WAS INSTALLED CONTROLS THROTTLE AND PERCHES HAVE BEEN PAINTED NEW LEVERS WITH THE CORRECT RUBBER ENDS NEW LEVER COVERS NOS CHROME HANDLEBARS NOS GRIPS NOS THROTTLE CABLE AND NEW FRONT BRAKE CABLE CORRECT SHIFT LEVER AND BRAKE PEDAL THAT HAS THE RUBBER CASE PROTECTOR CORRECT “OFF-RUN-OFF” KILL SWITCH WHEELS RETAINED THE OEM D.I.D. RIMS. THERE ARE A FEW SCRATCHES, BUT ARE ORIGINAL ITEMS WHEELS RELACED WITH HEAVY DUTY STAINLESS STEEL BUCHANAN SPOKES REAR HUB IS NOS WITH NEW BEARINGS FRONT HUB WAS BEAD BLASTED, POWDER COATED, AND NEW BEARINGS INSTALLED ALL WHEEL SPACERS WERE REPLATED BRAKE ARMS WERE BRUSHED AND CLEAR COATED PAINT ALL PLASTIC IS OEM, NO AFTERMARKET OR KNOCK-OFF PIECES PLASTIC PIECES WERE PAINTED TO MATCH THE OEM HONDA COLORS AND CLEAR COATED FOR LONG-TERM PROTECTION (TANKS BY TIPTON) GAS TANK WAS STRIPPED AND PAINTED THE OEM HONDA GREEN, STRIPED, AND CLEAR COATED FOR LONG-TERM PROTECTION (TANKS BY TIPTON) DECALS WERE APPLIED OVER THE CLEAR COAT FRAME , SWING ARM, AND TRIPLES WERE BEAD BLASTED AND POWDER COATED SHOCK SPRINGS WERE BEAD BLASTED AND THEN POWDER COATED FORK LEGS WERE STRIPPED OF THE CLEAR COAT, RE-BRUSHED, AND CLEAR COATED PIPE BRACKETS, SEAT BRACKETS, AND BRAKE STAYS WERE PAINTED OR POWDER COATED HARDWARE OVER $800 ALONE HAS BEEN INVESTED IN NOS BOLTS, NUTS, WASHERS AND COTTER KEYS OEM HARDWARE ITEMS THAT COULD NOT BE REPLACED WITH NOS ITEMS WERE REPLATED NOS BALL BEARINGS WERE USED IN THE STEERING HEAD NOS CHAIN ROLLER AND BEARING NEW CHAIN WAS INSTALLED AND CUT TO PROPER LENGTH VERY RARE AND ORIGINAL AIR FILTER RETAINER WAS ON THE BIKE AT THE START OF RESTORATION. AIRBOX, AND RETAINER WERE CLEANED, POLISHED, AND CLEAR COATED ALL NEW NOS RUBBER GROMMETS WERE INSTALLED THROUGHOUT THE MOTORCYCLE HOSE CLAMPS WERE REPLATED LIBERTY WAS TAKEN TO REPLACE THE FRONT MOTOR MOUNT WITH AN ALUMINUM ITEM WHICH MATCHES THE TANK. THE ORIGINAL FRONT MOTOR MOUNTS WERE POWDER COATED AND THE NUTS AND BOLTS WERE REPLATED AND WILL BE INCLUDED WITH THE MOTORCYCLE. SUSPENSION OEM SHOCKS WERE REBUILT WITH NEW SEALS AND OIL FILLED TO FACTORY SPECS, SPRINGS POWDER COATED LIBERTY WAS TAKEN TO POLISH THE SHOCK BODIES AS I FELT IT MATCHES THE TANK BETTER. IF THE BUYER WANTS THE SHOCK BODIES TO BE PAINTED THE OEM COLOR THAT WILL BE DONE BEFORE SHIPPING. FORKS WERE REBUILT USING NOS SEALS, AND WIPERS. FILLED WITH OIL TO FACTORY SPECS NOS CHROME FORK CAPS AND O-RINGS WERE INSTALLED FORK LEGS WERE STRIPPED OF THE CLEAR COAT, RE-BRUSHED, AND CLEAR COATED MISC. NEW DUNLOP TIRES HAVE BEEN INSTALLED WHICH ARE AS CLOSE AS WE CAN GET TO OEM DESIGN NOTICE THAT EVEN THE RUBBER PAD UNDER THE SEAT AND THE TANK PADS ARE NOS REPLACEMENT SEAT COVER HAS BEEN INSTALLED ON THE OEM ALUMINUM SEAT PAN ORIGINAL FACTORY MANUAL, FIRST EDITION CONTAINING THE PARTS CATALOG, WILL BE INCLUDED WITH THIS AUCTION.
