Vehicle Detail
1978 Ford Thunderbird, 351M, auto, 40642 original miles. I bought this car from the original owner, it was kept in near perfect condition. Spent most of it's life covered in storage, taken out very seldom and driven to keep it loose. Factory black paint still shines, I did not even buff it out, interior is near mint, with no damage or wear evident. Has the double vinyl top, sport appearance pkg w/ color coded trim moldings, and the sport wheels. 100% original and untouched with the exception of an under dash 8 track player. Trunk does not look to ever had anything in it, all weatherstrip is soft and seals perfectly, doors shut like they did in 78'. Trim and bumpers are all perfect, as is glass, carpet, dash, seats, etc. No moldy/moth ball smells, still has a wiff of new car scent in there (noticed when I opened the glovebox. No evidence of mice or other pests ever. Runs great, motor starts right up, idles right (elec choke works like new) and drives out perfect, no rattles or noises, brakes and suspension tight, shifts perfectly. Tires are shot....they look "off the shelf" new tread wise, but are weatherchecked from setting so much. Obviously professionally undercoated sometime early in it's life,(see the red body plugs) and it worked...no rust anywhere, this car is arrow straight. Has AC, it works, but blows cool not cold. Does have a slight stutter/miss yet, due to old fuel still in the system (1/8 tank to go..) Underside is near perfect also, no rust issues there, just the usual light surface "patena", with a spray of rust converter it would be just as clean as any restoration shop would do, no rust under the vinyl top either. Does have a some small rock chips in the paint, it is original, nothing noticable, but the dr. front fender has some paint cracks showing, right above the wheel arch, looks like the paint got brittle and cracked there --Doors are perfect, as are the rockers and floorboards. Could use a good buff to bring out a few paint imperfectations, but still looks close to perfect as it sets. Missing 1 centercap (1 in trunk, 2 on car) yet, and will need an exhaust pipe fixed, not loud, but has a leak back by the muffler/tailpipe (both should be replaced, are rusted) Nothing has been touched underhood...meaning no touch up paint, tune-up, or even washing, just as it came out of storage.--No leaks, noises, or smoking from the eng/trans, both opperate exactly as 40K should....the whole car just feels like 40K..hard to explain, you either get it or you don't...--Issues, old fuel, weather checked tires, bad exhaust, tiny rock chips, 1 fender paint cracks, 1 missing center cap, and the air tube going to the air cleaner (bendable accordian style) is dry and cracked. Other than that, this car is everything it's supposed to be, really a straight and clean low milage timepiece, perfect parade or collector car, ready to drive, other than the tires should be replaced, they might have kittens at hwy speeds...Owners manual and some other "glove box papers"---Clear title----Take a look, ask me any questions, Thanks
