Vehicle Detail
...how to describe this cute little MGB???...I will go with lovingly restored by a devoted amateur that I bought it from. The issue with me is the paint/body work.It is a 5 footer and in original color. To expand on the devoted amateur remark,he missed a few minor dimples, not bad but they are there, and one small ding at the very front of the hood from a stone, see pix at MG badge. He used factory type lower panels and they look very good, but he fabricated some of the inner filler panels, not unusual and unseen. Many restorers amature and professional alike do this to save money, it is accepted but not fully professional. Please see pix of front lifted,if you can't see it, thats good. Most all people think it looks very nice, I just wanted to get this out up front that the pix make it look like a semi show car paint, its nice but no show car.It is respectable enough to enter in a car show, but you probably will not win.To put this in perspective, this car is well above average for it's price range. OK now lets discuss the more positive points, this is a two owner(not including me) car, I have the original passport to service records book of the first owner shown in the glove box. It reads 48xxx miles, and all systems work and work very well indeed. Starts form cold with a pull of the choke instantly then idles smoothly as it warms up. 55lbs of oil pressure with no over heating problems whatsoever. Excellent brakes and clutch, drives straight and smooth, easy steering and lite to the touch.Does not pull or dive tracks straight as an arrow and no funny engine or drive train noises.Shifts up or down with excellent syncros.Cruises's effortlessly at 70 and does NOT leak oil on your driveway. It does puff a smoke on the upshift while hard accelerating only. The brakes are firm and right up there and pull it to a straight steady stop. The hand brake works but does not hold, it's the cable. All lights work, as well as gauges, speedo heater, wipers, switches, cigar lighter, and polished stainless wiper blades and even the original dealer installed am/fm radio that you can actually hear. This MGB has no funny/cobbled wiring issues that can ruin the enjoyment of ownership. The top is near perfect and the window is clear and has the original boot cover. The engine compartment is clean and correct and well kept, the trunk has the tools and a original spare that is good, with working lite. The interior is very nice with great original seats with one scrape but not worn/torn. The dash is excellent with NO cracks or awful dash top cover, even the key ignition buzzer still works. The chrome is very nice and the tires exhaust are as new.The glass windshield is very clean and not fogged nor are the side glasses. This little MGB really has no real faults other than my obsession with the paint,it should be polished out..The MGB is turn key ready to drive and will please the daily driver sports car fan.The photos with the top down show the car sitting and running at idle. I will help the winning bidder with loading onto a small truck/trailer at my house, but I have no room for a huge commercial semi truck. Full payment to be made within 72 hours of auction close.
