Selling the 1982 CX500 Custom with 15,751 miles as pictured. It is a 497cc transverse V-Twin, liquid cooled, shaft drive motorcycle. 1982 was the last year of the CX500 and is sought by many as it did not utilize the Capacitor Discharge Ignition (CDI), but rather the more reliable Transistorized Ignition (TI) system. The Honda CX series of motorcycles have a "cult like" following online with many websites and forums being devoted to them for parts, repairs, general discussion, etc. This motorcycle is being sold as is for parts or repair due to a coolant related issue. I stopped riding this motorcycle last week when I discovered the issue. I did not notice any smoke or sweet smells from the exhaust. The motorcycle does not overheat or boil over, but coolant was disappearing from the reservoir. There was evidence of coolant in the oil when I pulled both valve covers. I changed the oil before listing the bike - it didn't look much different than normal, but I wanted to get the oil out since it was most likely contaminated with at least trace amounts of coolant. I have decided to sell the bike, rather than pursue troubleshooting it further/ repairing it due to a lack of time and other commitments/projects. This would be a great bike for someone looking for a project or even for someone with a spare engine. Maybe you have a rusty CX500 in which case you could just swap the engines and then have a nice running and nice looking CX! The bike starts, runs, and rides fine - I was riding the bike up until this past week when I realized it had this issue - it is currently registered and inspected through July 2011. The bike is in excellent condition elsewise (no strange noises or quirks) and has had many new parts/upgrades in the past few years (see notes below). Every light and electrical item works properly as well. I have also included tons of photos for your review which were taken just prior to listing. I pointed out some cosmetic issues in the photos below as well. I have a clear Pennsylvania title ready for transfer. This bike is stored inside and I know at least the last owner stored it inside as well. Additional Info: Bridgestone Spitfire Raised White Letter tires purchased and installed last summer (less than 1500 miles on them)Front cover gasket, Front Camshaft Oil Seal, and Mechanical Fan were replaced last fall (when gasket was leaking).
