Vehicle Detail

The car's engine after a little tweaking, will be in good working condition. I will also provide you the factory manual which is in electronic pdf file for your assistance in the restoration. As the videos show, ( http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=7-UeZ04qTnc , http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=QPRKIBKdD_k ) there is an inexplicable hesitation or sneeze when you accelerate. This car has excellent bones very little rust, tight steering and suspension, good brakes, shifts well, no rattles or shakes. Recently installed new timing belt, four new tires, oil change, air cleaner, plug wires, carburator/accelerator pump diaphragm, fuel filter and would make a solid restoration project for someone interested in this marque. I don’t want to give anyone the mis-impression that this car is inoperable --- as it does run --- however it has been stored for a majority of its 26 years (with its engine having been started on a regular basis). This car was repainted in the early 1990's and has only 34,829 miles on its odometer; and these are the original miles on the car. This is a solid car which is deserving of a good restoration. This car was extremely unique in its day and only 4,000 of these were produced annually worldwide. This car would make a nice weekend sports car to enjoy (as a second car). The retail price for this car back in the 1980's ranged between $25,000 - $30,000 new (which was a lot of money back then) depending upon the features that were added. Things that would need to be addressed: Needs a complete tune-up , exhaust has leaks and should be replaced and the leather is in servicable condition however door panels and seat backs should be restored. The car starts up and drives , however, there is an intermittant hesitation or sneeze when accelerating that I believe is related to the lack of driving and need for a tune up. This becomes very evident when car is asked to accelerate, however there are times when I can spool the turbos to max without any issue. It is an intermittent issue. There is also no stereo receiver currently installed in the vehicle; just a stereo cover plate (eventhough the speakers do work just fine). The stereo was removed as a theft deterrent measure nearly 20 years ago when this car had been moved to California on a moving truck. Two of the Maserati monikers/symbols have been stolen from the body of the vehicle over the years, one time believe it or not it occurred while it was at a Maserati dealership (one of the missing pieces is where a trunk latch would normally be located – and the other behind the driver's passenger window. The matching Maserati cover plate behind the passenger’s side window, however, which hides the gas tank lid was never touched and is in its proper place.) Also, the passenger’s outside door handle needs to be repaired (it is not working properly) and its respective door hinge will also need to be examined/repaired. The passenger door does lock properly and can be opened from the inside only at this point. The driver's side door funtctions properly, however, it cannot be locked presently at all therefore it is always parked in the garage. Another quirky issue worth pointing out: the owner put the driver-side window down recently (an electric window) when he was cleaning the car in his garage and it is now sitting in the rolled down position and it will not go back up. (A mechanic suggested that he take the door cover off and push the window back up in place. He also mentioned that sometimes on older Maserati’s if you lower the windows too far into the down position, sometimes they can get stuck? The turbos on this vehicle are in very good shape (both of them) -- if you watch the you tube video you can see the boost gauge goes into the yellow. This car is also presently registered, however, it is (as mentioned) operational and has a clean title. I will be glad to answer any other questions you may have regarding this vehicle. Good luck in your search and thank you for your interest. Please note: This car is being sold “as-is” without any expressed or implied warranties and the Buyer will be responsible for all shipping, taxes, title, registration, and license fees & any transfer expenses (including all export & custom fees if they apply) associated with this sale. The only payments that are acceptable for this transaction are cash and a Certified Bank check. A $500 deposit must be paid within 48 hours (PayPal is acceptable for the deposit) and the remaining balance within 5 days of the completed auction. Pick-up or delivery of the vehicle will need to take place no later than 5 days following the completion of this auction. ****Seller Added Note: There is an incident report listed for this car from 1997 that needs to be explained. Previous Owner parked on a dirt portion of his driveway (where a pile of leaves underneath the car began smoldering). Someone crossed the street to ask one of the firemen sitting outside if he could borrow a fire extinguisher, however, the fireman chose to respond with his truck instead. He doused the leaves underneath the car with a fire extinguisher in a matter of seconds, and must have drafted an incident report from this event. There was absolutely no damage to the car whatsoever, and therefore the owner's insurance company was never even notified. The existence of this report came as a total surprise to the owner through this Ebay listing, as it seemed so inconsequential at the time.
