Vehicle Detail
Nice 1967 Chrysler Newport convertible up for auction. 84k original miles, NO RESERVE so bid early and often! Highly sought after Mopar 383 V8, matching numbers, original 84k on odometer, lots of power, motor runs incredibly smooth and quiet. All original with power steering, power brakes and power top. New exhaust system from y-pipe back in 2006, Newport runs nice and quiet. I was going to do a dual exhaust setup to really open up the engine's potential as well as other performance upgrades but time and money as always have become a factor. She's still all 100% stock and runs surprisingly strong with points type ignition and original 4 barrel carburetor, the garage floor is always dry when I pull her out. We had the brakes done about a year ago, including new brake lines and brake shoes all around. Convertible top replaced in 2004 with glass back window, top goes up and down easily with the push of a button, no help required. Back window will need to be glued back on at bottom where it meets the vinyl. Interior in decent, presentable condition. The Chrysler was repainted a slightly darker shade of metallic emerald green in 2000, still shines up nicely, a little bubbling in spots. The emerald green paint and the black top and black interior are a really nice color combination, people always comment on how good it looks. Floors, trunk and frame are solid, never patched. The chrome and stainless trim are in nice condition. Heat/defroster and wipers work properly, horn stopped working recently, original AM radio still works! No lock cylinder on trunk, I open it with a slot head screwdriver. Will need a new glove box liner, available on Ebay for $45. Nice candidate for restoration or drive as is, I always get smiles and "thumbs up" when I take her out. Cruises nicely on the highway, holds the road perfectly. Runs very strong, tracks straight as an arrow and shifts smoothly. She starts on the first try even in cold weather, idles perfectly, handles incredibly well for such a long car, stops easily and the suspension is luxurious. Drives overall like a big American classic convertible should. VIN is CE27G73171503. Will include Edelbrock Hi-Rise intake manifold for the Mopar 383 V8 for the winning bidder, adds horsepower and can directly accomodate aftermarket carburetors, paid $200. Original Chrysler wheels, newer tires and hubcaps in good condition with almost new tires included. Will include almost new American Racing Torq Thrust wheels with Cooper tires in pix for an additional $800, paid over $1200 for set. Nice classic Mopar which will only appreciate in value!
