Very nice “driver” quality early MGTD purchased on eBay in March 2006. While not a concour car, the car is very solid and drives nicely. The motor always starts right up and runs strong. The clutch works as it should and the gearbox shifts nicely although first gear is a little noisy, but works fine. The brakes work very good and the car tracks nicely at speed. The lights all work including the add-o n rear turn signals installed for safety sake (easily removed). The instruments all work as does the horn, wipers, etc. The vinyl seats, door panels and dash are quite nice. The carpet is very presentable as well. The windshield glass is very transparent with no delaminating. The body panels are straight and show no signs of collision damage repair or rust. There is light surface rust on parts of the undercarriage but no rust thru/structural issues. The black repaint over the original red is tired but still looks presentable at 15-feet as a driver. The chrome is generally good driver quality. The canvas top and toneau cover still do their job however they are faded. The rear plastic window is slightly yellowed but transparent enough for good rear visibility. The complete set of side curtains is quite nice and the plastic windows are clear. This is a very solid example of an early TD that can be enjoyed as-is as a driver or form the basis for a relatively easy restoration. It would be a great do-it-yourself or father-son project as there is no damage or rust repair requiring body shop equipment or skills. The car comes with a luggage rack, workshop manual and reproduction owner’s manual.
