Vehicle Detail

Normal 0 false false false MicrosoftInternetExplorer4 1929 Ford Model A 2-Door Coupe This car is located several miles from Boulder, Colorado; I am listing the car on behalf of my father. This 1929 Model A coupe has a very solid body with little rust. My father purchased the car in Colorado from the family of the original owner around 1981. The car had been restored to some degree prior to that time by the previous owner. It remains in mostly original configuration with some important safety and comfort upgrades which had been done prior to my father's ownership. My father drove and tinkered with the car for several years, and then parked it in his garage in 1986 where it has been sitting ever since. It was running fine when last parked in 1986; I had driven it myself several times back then and it drove very well. To get it running now, at a minimum the car will need a new battery, air filter, fluid changes, carburetor cleaning, and an inspection of the brakes/running gear. That being said, please remember that this is an 82 year old car. The paint finish is worn with lots of patina; the most recent repaint (sometime prior to 1981) was more utilitarian than show-quality. The body overall looks quite straight. The brakes were modified by the previous owner to use the 1940 Ford hydraulic system, with the components mounted under the floorboard and the battery relocated to a firewall mount. Turn signals were also added. Accessories on the car include a folding luggage carrier mounted on the passenger running board, an “ooogah” electric horn, and a vintage vacuum-operated "Wolf Whistle" on the intake manifold. It also has a period aftermarket cabin heater, which needs to have its intake duct re-installed on the special exhaust manifold; I'm not sure why it was removed. The bottom seat cushion on the driver side had been chewed on by a squirrel at some time while the car was parked in the garage; you’ll probably want to reupholster the seat. A sizable quantity of Model A spare parts is included with the sale – radiator, head, manifold, bell housing, flywheel, starters, horn, brake pieces, shocks, wheel bearings, headlight and other light lenses, various emblems, many electrical parts, hand cranks for engine, seals/gaskets, and at least one wheel. Also included is a 1929 Colorado license plate in very nice shape. The car has a clear CO title. We would like this car to go to someone who will enjoy it and give it the time & attention it deserves to bring it back to prime running condition again. We had lots of fun with the car three decades ago, hopefully you will too. Payment terms: The winning bidder is requested to make a deposit of $500 by PayPal within 48 hours of the end of the auction. The remainder of the payment should be made within ten days unless we have reached a prior agreement, in the form of a certified bank check or cash in person. Shipping terms:This car is available for local pick up only. We can help facilitate loading onto your truck/trailer. The tires do hold air well when inflated, so the vehicle can be rolled easily. You will have to make all arrangements if you want the car to be shipped by a third party. We would greatly prefer that the car be picked up between Sunday, May 22 and Saturday, May 28 2011. Longer storage may be possible provided the car has been fully paid for; please confirm this with us beforehand. On May-09-11 at 09:28:40 PDT, seller added the following information: I reserve the right to cancel bids from users with zero or negative feedback. On May-10-11 at 22:01:26 PDT, seller added the following information: I have uploaded a copy of the title; please note that my father purchased the car in 1984, not 1981 like I mentioned in the description above. To clarify on the recent history of the car, the engine has not been started since 1986 (nor has anyone attempted to start it since then). On May-15-11 at 19:49:11 PDT, seller added the following information: The engine does turn over using the hand crank. It is not seized or stuck.
