Vehicle Detail

Well, I'm not sure what the original creator of this car had in mind, but the possibilities are endless! Chitty Chitty Bang Bang (as I call her) started out life as a 1957 Nash Metropolitan. Somewhere in the early 1970s, a wonderful crazy craftsman decided to remove the old body, sandblast and paint the frame, and create a newly formed shell out of what appears to be marine or cabinet grade plywood, and teak. It sat in a barn after the old man's passing, and his kids didn't want it, so it was left to go with the house. I purchased this car from the homeowner. There's no windshield frame, but there is a broken windshield included with a last inspection sticker of 1969. Now, this was no shoddy job, nor is this some plywood Jeep body that someone decided to cobble together. I've been all over this car, and I can't see one thing on it that I would say was done badly. It was just left unfinished, inside a dry barn. There's no warped wood or water rot anywhere on the car. It sits pretty much just as the builder left it. The pictures tell the rest of the story. Mechanically, I put some marvel mystery oil down the cylinder holes with the plugs out, and spun the motor over. Spins fine, and with the plugs back in place, has obvious compression. Checked for spark with a dwell meter, and it's got spark as well. Shouldn't take much to make her run. Shifts into gears fine as well. The brakes and clutch on the car are both hydraulic, and both the clutch master and the brake master are dry and free of rust. Pedal linkages are all properly hooked up, as well as starter pull knob and choke. Tires hold air fine and don't have dry rot. I simply stopped where I'm at because I'm preparing for a new project to arrive, and I need the garage space. Heck, I'll be sad to see her go......and won't be broken hearted if she stays :-) She comes just as you see her. I might have an extra starter with the car, but that's about it. There's no title with the car, but I'll be glad to fill out the NY paperwork for you to get one (two forms showing ownership and lost title, I don't believe she's been registered since I've been alive). Please call me with any questions at (716)833-5645. I'll be glad to hold her here up to 30 days, but if you need more time, all I ask is that you make the arrangements beforehand with me. I have the car listed locally and reserve the right to end the auction at any time. Thanks for looking! Additionally, please review the pictures carefully as an eBayer emailed me saying that some of the frame sections may have been added in. I'm not a Nash expert, so I'm not sure. Thanks!
