Up for sale is my 1998 Jetta TDI that I purchased as a project. I'm selling both my projects that I just don't have time for. (see my other auction for my Jeep Wrangler) The story I got with the car is that it was impounded because the owner was driving without insurance. He couldn't afford the fines+the tow+the storage fees so it was sold to the local salvage yard I visit frequently rather than them do anything with it. I bought it from them. Fast forward and I bought it from them to use as a project to save some money on fuel. I can tell you it is going to need some work, or use it as a swap car to swap the TDI into something else. Since the engines are selling for well over $2k, this would be a great way to get an entire swap for your older VW. And since this is a mk3 chassis car, it makes swapping into a mk2/Corrado/etc quite a bit easier than the newer TDI's. This car runs and lot drives. I have driven it up and down the road, thats it. No really, thats it. The good: It's a TDI It isn't rusted out like most of the MK3 TDI's 5spd trans shifts smooth and has a good clutch Body is in pretty good shape (needs a good polish/wax), no big dents Sunroof works The bad: Low on power (probably clogged intake JUST A GUESS, I have NOT worked on it) No radio Needs new glow plug fuse block (one on firewall) Bad wheel bearing Needs a good cleaning Bald tires Airbag light on Now, please understand this car is being sold the same way I purchased it. It is sold AS-IS WHERE-IS WITH ABSOLUTELY NO WARRANTIES EXPRESSED OR IMPLIED. If you wanna risk driving it home, your on your own. I'm suggesting you tow it, but again, totally up to the buyer.
