I am helping my Mom and Dad sell their beautiful 1983 Mercedes Benz 300D Turbo Diesel. Although this is one of “their cars”, it’s my Dad’s “baby”. They purchased this Mercedes in Stuttgart, May 30, 1983 while on a work assignment, and watched as it rolled off the production line. It was shipped to USA December 21, 1983, and has been driven every year since. It currently has 179,498 original miles, which is low for this historically reliable W123 family of Mercedes classics. The odometer was replaced at 13,129 miles, and an official replacement plate documenting the mileage is mounted inside the car. My parents were 57 years old when they purchased it, and now at 85, the car isn’t being shown off with the annual miles it deserves. Since new, this Mercedes has been meticulously maintained, adult driven, garaged, and kept in near perfect original condition. The original owners manual and repair records are available, and will be included with the car. The original paint is in fine condition and still has the new silky smooth feel, and has a deep pearly white glow. This beautiful white exterior is hard to capture in pictures, though the car is always receiving complements on how nice it looks. The interior is in beautiful shape, and has never been smoked in. All upholstery and carpeting are tight and clean. The chrome is also in very nice condition. Three imperfections on the body of the car are shown in the photos. One at each forward facing edge of the rear wheel wells, and one blemish is also shown at the left rear bumper. Otherwise, the only known mechanical or electronic issues involve the tachometer and radio. The tachometer stopped indicating about two years ago. The radio was replaced several years ago, and the motorized antenna is not working. The original Becker radio was kept, thinking they would repair it someday. It will be included with the car. This car is also equipped with an engine block heater for easy starts during the coldest winter temperatures, and the electronic temperature regulation (ETR) switch was recently replaced on the air conditioner unit which has no leaks and blows icy cold air for those hot summer days.
