Vehicle Detail
Offering my 1971 Datsun 240Z for sale. I have owned the Z for 7 years but I have acquired another collector car and I'm no longer able to give the Z the attention it deserves. I purchased the Z while living in Kansas from my neighbor. The car had been sitting in his garage for nearly 10 years. When I got it, I went through it mechanically to make it a summertime daily driver. Work included new head gasket, all new brake and major tune-up (have all receipts). I enjoyed driving it the next two summers and it got lots of attention. The car was repainted about 5 years ago. It looks good from 20 feet but it is not a perfect paint job. At the time, there were some rust bubbles in the previous paint that were repaired. A few minor bubbles are beginning to reappear. The battery tray area seems real nice as does the spare tire well. The frame rails also look good but there is some rust through in the floors. It has a pop-up sunroof. Chrome is real nice with exception of the rear bumper center section that is cloudy. Car has brand new tires - probably less then 200 miles. The interior is generally nice. It has new seat upholstery. Headliner is good. Dash has typical cracks but has a full dash cap in place that looks nice. New shift boot - needs attached at the base. Has an aftermarket "vintage cassette deck" but not hooked up to speakers. The center gauge "pod" (gas gauge and oil pressure gauges ect) do not work. The drivers side exterior door handle needs repair - it must be opened from the inside. Mechanically, the car runs strong but has not been driven much in the last three years. I have had it out this spring and have driven it around our small town but I have not taken it extended distances. Generally, it runs and drives like an old car -- by which I mean you have to get used to it - no power brakes, no power steering, rough ride and multiple rattles typical of an older car. In summary, it is a nice 240Z for someone to finish up some details and enjoy driving. Part of me hates to sell the car but I also hate to see it just sit. Please see the pictures - I tried to represent the car fairly. Please email me if you have any additional questions or are nearby and would like to see the car. Very modest reserve - motivated seller! Please contact me if you have any additional questions.
