Chevrolet 3800 one-ton grain truck for sale. Truck is located in Ashburn, Virginia (20148), about 35 miles west of Washington, DC. I'm told this truck was used as a farm truck in North Dakota during wheat harvest, about two weeks every year, then put back in the barn. I was also informed that the mileage is accurate. The speedometer worked when I acquired the truck in September 2008, but stopped working shortly thereafter. The brake system was completely overhauled one year ago: four new wheel cylinders, brake pads, brake drums, re-built power brake booster, new master cylinder, and all new brake lines by a certified mechanic (about $3,000 in parts and labor). The bed to the truck is 9-feet long by 7-feet, 6-inches wide. It will fit in my garage, with the bumper touching the wall and about a half-inch of clearance from the garage door. Rebuilt carburetor. New kingpins in the front. Two new front tubes and tires. The rear tires are OK, but will likely need to be replaced in the near future. Bench seat has been replaced. Two separate horns (both work). One is the Ahh-Oooo-Gaaa horn. Does not burn oil. Does not smoke. Does leak a little, but I've never had to add oil in between changes. I included a picture of the spot in my driveway that shows two and a half years of leakage - not too much for that amount of time. I had three seatbelts installed, including shoulder belts for the driver and passenger. These were nicely installed (especially where the shoulder belt bolts into the cab) at a cost of several hundred dollars. The dump-cylinder was completely re-built, but needs a new cable installed (I have a new cable included with this sale). When the cylinder was rebuilt, the old cable needed to be replaced. With the new cable installed, the dump function is completely operational. Despite the rebuild of the dump-cylinder, there is a slight cylinder leak (few drops after the dump is raised and lowered). Lots of surface rust, but an overall solid truck. No rust-through spots. Pictures of cab corners included. The gauges do not work. The wipers do not work. Transmission is tight. Four-speed (including granny-gear). None of the gears slip. When starting from a stopped position, the truck shakes/shudders. I'm told this is due to a likely "hot spot" in the clutch flywheel. A little annoying, but other than that, shifts and drives very well for a 60-year-old truck. Top (safe) speed is about 40mph. Everything seems to be original. Six-volt system. One of the yellow fog lights is burned-out. The headlights and blinkers flicker sometimes - some wiring work is probably needed. It's driven about once a week. Very popular on Halloween when it's used for hay rides. Would rather not sell, but I'm moving and do not have room at my new house. No reserve. Priced to sell.
