1966 Honda CB77 Super Hawk 305

For your consideration is a beautifully refurbished 3-owner Honda CB77 Super Hawk 305. The Super Hawk is considered by many as one of the most influential early Honda sport bikes - one of the first with electric and kick start, hi/low beam headlight, integrated tachometer and speeds outpacing much of the competition of the day. In excellent mechanical and cosmetic condition, this vintage cycle runs and performs as designed, and is ready for your collection or just enjoying on country roads. Completed in 2010, the frame and body were stripped and repainted using the correct factory paint codes. The vehicle was disassembled, refurbished and reassembled using many new components and parts. The engine was stripped and cleaned, but did not require complete tear down as it runs well, and does not smoke or leak. The engine number and frame number are within 18 numbers of each other, which per Honda archives means that the engine is original to this vehicle (engines and frames were made in batches and rarely matched identically in these models). Some of the mechanical work performed includes: New tires and tubes, wheels balanced and bearings packed; New factory-correct high quality ($700) mufflers, baffles and gaskets; carbs cleaned and rebuilt; forks rebuilt with new seals, washers and oil; new intake tubes and correct air filters; new rectifier and battery; rebuilt fuel petcock, new fuel lines; new tank emblems and fuel cap; new brake cables and clutch cable; new rubber on foot pegs, kick starter arm and shifter; new outer cover seals and gaskets on engine and trans; new taillight lens; and much more. This vehicle starts quickly and runs and drives well, with some initial choke manipulation needed until it warms up. It does occasionally leak a few drops of fuel out the overflow tubes after being shut down which I remedy by turing the fuel off when not in use. I'm told this is a quick float adjustment but I have not yet tried it. The seat was recovered by the previous owner and is not original Honda issue or an exact reproduction, but the original chrome strip is intact. The handlebar is an aftermarket "flat bar" design and a bar-end mirror is installed on the left. The original handlebar and mirrors will be included upon request for the winning bidder. The brake and clutch handles are original, with the plastic film over each. They show some age, but are part of the patina of this classic. Rims, spokes and brake drums have been lightly cleaned and polished, but they too are not perfect and have a few pits and scratches. The original chrome tank side plates are in good shape, with minor surface imperfections and a couple minor dings from age. The neutral indicator works intermittently. A clear Wisconsin title for this vehicle is registered to the engine number (as was the practice when it was first registered here many years ago). A non-refundable $500 deposit via Paypal is required within 48 hours of the end of the auction. The balance (full payment) is due within 7 days of the end of the auction. Cashiers checks, wire transfers, personal checks or business checks are not accepted. Cash or Postal Money Orders (available from any U.S. Post Office) are required for the balance amount over the deposit. The title and a bill of sale will be provided once payment has been received and cleared. Payment must be cleared prior to release of the vehicle.
