Vehicle Detail

1966 AMC Rambler Ambassador 990 station wagon Equipped with a 287 CID 8-cyl engine, automatic transmission, power steering, and power brakes. Originally my grandparent’s car; has been in the family for 37 years. Exterior Completely original and in very good condition. Chrome is brilliant with very little pitting. Original paint with a few touch-ups. There is a small dent on the rear left passenger door and one on the tailgate. There is some minor surface rust on the body behind the rear wheels and a small hole in the spare tire compartment pan where the original rubber mat trapped moisture. There is also a small hole adjacent to the water drain holes in the bottom of tailgate, not visible from the inside or outside of the car. Interior The interior is completely original except for the replacement carpeting and front seat covers. The AMC “vinyl air” upholstery is in good condition except for the driver’s seat which has some cracking. The plastic trim panels on the left and right sides of the cargo area are disintegrating due to sun exposure and old age. All equipment works except for the clock which operates intermittently. Recent Mechanical Brake overhaul; new parts include: hoses, wheel cylinders, self-adjusting hardware, shoes, wheel bearings, seals, backing plates and drums sandblasted and painted. Engine compartment; new parts include: head gasket, NOS carburetor, radiator and heater hoses, T-stat, rebuilt water pump (with weep), belts, spark plugs, plug wires, distributor cap and rotor, fuel filter, NOS fuel pump, stoplight switch. New dual exhaust. New P205/75R14 radial tires. Older Mechanical (1980s-90s) Alternator rebuild, timing chain and gears replaced, transmission overhauled, valve job, front suspension bushings and ball joints, radiator replaced with mid 1970s style. Spare Parts Included Many good used parts and some new parts, including: Original carburetor, spare carburetor, carburetor kits, sun visor, wind lace, hub cap, door panel, arm rest, tailgate release handle, tailgate window regulators.
