Up for auction is this 1996 Chevy Impala SS in the rarest color of what GM called Green/Grey. I am listing this car for my ex-wife who is handicapped and no longer able to drive. I believe we were the second owners when we purchased it in 2002. The car has 124,000 miles and still runs good. The majority of the miles we put on it were easy highway driven miles. This would be a great project car or a good customized hot rod. It turns heads everywhere we go. The car has never been raced or customized and is an unmolested original. It has been regularly maintained, washed and waxed on a regular basis, oil changed every 3k miles. There is a clear title. We also have the factory owners manual and original window sticker. The car does need paint, interior and bodywork and the suspension is tired and needs to be replaced (All these items can be found here on Ebay). This car is not perfect but, it can be with a little work. You can drive this car everyday and restore it while using it. If you are looking for an unmolested, unmodified 96 SS to restore or customize, here it is. This car will hold it's value for a long time. EXTERIOR: Overall it is in good condition. This SS is rust free due to it's life in the southwest all these years. The original paint is glossy on 80% of the body and the clear coat is sun fading on the rest (typical of desert cars). The metal is straight with a few scratches or dings here and there (see pics). The rims are in typical shape for their age and still look good (see pics), and the tires are about 3 years old and have plenty of tread remaining (see pics). On one of the road trips, a rock bounced off the windshield and left a small chip on the right side away from drivers view (it was too small to show in picture). INTERIOR: The interior is worn and it shows. There are tears in the leather as you see in the pictures, but again, that should be expected since it is the original. The console, dash panel & door panels are in good shape. The sides of the dash has some sun damage on the outer edge. The carpet needs a cleaning and should clean up with no problem. The floor mats are not the originals. This has been a non-smoker vehicle its entire life. PERFORMANCE: This Impala drives good and is used daily in our small rural town. The highway fuel mileage is factory rated at 26mpg and I was getting that regularly. Occasionally it got as high as 29mpg (blew me away). The engine has had the oil changed every 3k miles. There are some oil leaks under the engine area. The engine has strong power with a smooth idle. The car is a blast to drive and gets attention wherever we go. MAINTENANCE: The transmission has been professionally rebuilt and is still under WARRANTY. An external TRANSMISSION oil cooler was added. The transmission fluid and filter is NEW. The ENGINE OIL and filter has been serviced prior to this listing so you don't have to worry about any of that, just get in and drive. The ENGINE oil cooler lines have been replaced. Additionally the following items have been replaced; Radiator and coolant, Battery, Brakes, A/C Compressor with Receiver (air blows cold), Power Steering pump and hoses, Engine belt and idler pulley, Harmonic Balancer. DISCLOSURE: As I said before, this is NOT my vehicle and I am listing it for another person who is Handicapped and cannot do it herself. The car is in need of some repair and I have tried to show the imperfections to the best of my ability with the photo's and description. Please ask any questions you may have.
