Vehicle Detail

This is a 1970 Volkswagen Standard Beetle. It is a project car, needs total restoration, has been sitting inside in a garage for many years. It was driven inside in the mid 90's to await restoration, and here it still waits. I bought it to build a dune buggy, but I just can't do that to it, it is way to nice to suffer that fate. Mileage is over 100,000. It has a single port engine, the people I bought it from said it is a 1600, but I don't know for sure. Motor does roll over, I have not tried to start it. It does roll around and steer easily. All of the glass is good, and this does have the electric rear window defogger, which I would think is a big plus on one of these. 4 speed manual transmission. It is a Beetle, so you know you will have to do floorpans and heater channels. This is a pretty nice complete unmolested example, even has the original washer bottle and hose, owners manual, original owner ID card, and all of its trim. Dash is cracked, seats are pretty nice, small holes in driver seat, black interior with a white headliner and nice white sunvisors. solid doors, hood, rear lid. Hopefully pics will tell the story. Any questions please feel free to ask. This is located in Saranac Mi. 48881 and buyer will be responsible for pickup or shipping. This is sitting inside, and will remain there until it is picked up.On Feb-28-11 at 06:56:47 PST, seller added the following information: I am adding a couple pics of the rear floor area so you can see the current state. The one without the jack spot is the driver side. I jacked it up last night and poked around, the tunnel and fork and front susp mounting areas feel solid to me. I think this will be a pretty nice restore. Couldn't get a good pic, but spare tire well needs work on the bottom. On Mar-05-11 at 23:36:00 PST, seller added the following information: Thanks everyone for looking. I am adding a couple more interior pics. Please note discoloration on headliner, and blanket trim below rear window. No radio, has a piece of pink foam insulation behind dash to cover hole for radio. Yes, pedals still move, but could use a little oiling. Again, stated mileage is over 100,000. Engine is free and will roll over, but I have not tried to start it. I have been asked both of those questions at least ten times. To the best of my knowledge, this has been stored in a garage since the 90's, so that should give you some idea what to expect. It was driven in, so I wouldn't have great concerns about the motor. I am told it was last started about 5 years ago. Bottom has paint and rustproofing peeling off, but I don't see anything that concerns me more than floors and heater channels. Hope this helps.
