Vehicle Detail
Up for sale is my 65 442 convertible that I have owned since I was 18. I am now 48. My dad passed away 2 years ago and when he left, so did my love for the car. He and I had planned to finish some things which are brand new still in the boxes in the car. I have a new set of coil springs custom made that are only made by a company in Kansas. They are still in boxes ready to install. I also have the window fuzzy's. The car my dad and I worked on and restored back in 1987. That is when we painted it. It is NOT a trailer queen. The car has been driven and enjoyed so if you are looking for a museum piece, this is not it. However it is very very nice. Most of the chrome has been re done. The engine has been completely re done and it is the 400 B block correct for the car. I also have the original 425 block that came in the car new. In the very early models they used that engine because the 400's were not ready yet. This is all on 442 dot com and I was a OCA Grand National Judge for 65-67 originals back in the 80's when Oldsmobile had the birthday celebration so this information is correct about the engine. All information I am providing is as honest as I can about this car. The engine has the best of the best internally. Mondello Roller Rockers under the original valve covers. Gear to gear drive for the timing gear. Blue printed and balanced. Bored 30 over with new pistons. New Original cam design. Original A heads completely re done and they are what came on it. The intake manifold has been upgraded to a aluminum so it does not have the overheating problem they were plagued with when they were first built. I still have the steel intake. The carb is custom made for better performance because of today's gas. The old one did not like it and was a problem so Mitch'es carb in Pa. made me a new one to run on today's fuel. It does have the original exhaust manifolds on it. The trans has been re done and is a turbo 400, again for better driving. The rear end is right and so are the gears. I had them checked and re shimmed 4 years ago just to make sure they were ok. I just put on new red line tires two years ago right before my dad died. It was the last thing he and I did together. The interior is new and right. All the pleats are correct. It was done about 12 years ago along with the top and pads for the top and a new back window. We installed disk brakes on the front to help it stop better and be safer to drive. The car is not perfect, the floor pans were re done before I got it. They repaired them, they did not replace them they look fine . Again this car was built to drive and have fun with. If you want to go from here to Florida, Texas, and California and back, it will do it I did. The car placed 1st in it's class up in Lansing back in 1987 at the Grand Nationals for the Olds Club Of America show. The miles are correct as best I know since I was the second owner. The car came from Alabama out of a barn. It had sat for some years before I got it back in 1981. Since then I have researched and documented as much as I could about the car which with no build sheet was hard. It is a real 442 not a clone that I am sure of. See the vin to verify yourself. It is in storage and has been since my dad passed away so that is why I am selling it. Nothing is wrong with it I just can't look at the car and want to do anything with it without my dad. It has as much on it new as I could find and buy. I bought mostly NOS parts but somethings I could not find so I used aftermarket. I put the very best in it and just want someone else to enjoy it like I once did. This is a reserve auction so do NOT ask the reserve! If you have questions call me at 440-653-1502 and ask for Mitch. I'll answer anything I can to help you as I know every nut and bolt on this car. I will not ship the car you must handle that however, I will try and help as best I can. 2000.00 must be put down at sale end with full payment made within 2 days of final sale, no refunds or returns. This sale will be final as I have stated as much as I can about the car to you along with as many pics as I have. This car looks and drives great with no problems that I know of. I also have a barn full of parts that will go with the car. Hoods, deck lids, a door, misc chrome parts, bumpers, dashes, some brackets, lots of parts. And No I will not sell them separate right now as I said, they ALL go with the car. If it does not sell maybe later on towards spring I may climb up in the barn and get them down but not right now. If the car sells I will get everything down to go with the car. Theirs also a back seat for the car. So look hard guys it's a great car, good as new and ready for your summer drive with the sun in your eyes and wind in your hair.
