AWESOME survivor. This thing is built like a tank. I drove it cross country and liked it so much I will get a newer one, this one has to go first. It has a wvo fuel system installed with a secondary tank and a dash switch this was profesionally installed and came with the car when I got it. range on both thanks is about 1,000 miles, The paint glows and has not a scratch or ding; it is amazing. I replaced the bottoms fo the front seats with cloth and they look good. The dash has no cracks (common to these cars) everything works on it. So it has many great features and basically looks good. It has a new alternator since the old one gave out and I replaced. Also, new battery and two new rear tires. This car will go around the world and get you on flat land at 65 MPH 32 MPG think of it waste french fry oil for free and get 32MPG. It starts right up everytime without hessitation. All accessories, windows and sunroof work as they should. The windows all are double pained and look bullet proof. the S class was intended for the government dignataries of Germany and as such has lots more upgrades than the common E or even C class mercs. Transmission shifts smoothly as it should and gets to top gear correctly. Turbo works great. The bad: The odometer never worked so it sits at 180,000 I drove it cross country and drive it daily. I think in the year or so I had this car I drove about 10000 miles. Hard to tell what the real miles are but I would guess them form looking at the engine at about 280,000. It does not leak oil. The center console wood has begun to crack (normal for these cars) It smokes specially when cold and when running the waste garbage oil. You have to add about one quart of engine oil to every 300 miles specilly if you drive in stop and go traffic or uphill. The waste garbage oil has been in the tank for at least a year. It needs to be cleaned out or flushed. I have bee trying to add aditives and thin it wiht new diesel but I think it is too thick. (It came that way) I replaced the common filter once maybe it is time for it to be replaced again. The drivers seat tilt gears are stripped I have the sit propped up in a brick to adjust for my height. The auto close feature is erratic. It wokrs sometimes after resetting the fuses for a while and then it stops working. I replaced the air pump but I think there may be an air leak in the drivers door. The key fobs did have remote functions but after replacing the battery one day the contacts broke so if you need to have remote door locks you need to replace the key fobs. The radio has a problem with the volume control. it has no volume control to speak of. soemtimes it works fine and others you can not control the loudness. it gets louder and louder which is ok if you like loud music. The front right lower bumper skin began peeling from going to the car wash. It is not bat and maybe it can be touched up wiht a spray can. but I refuse to do shotty work on my cars. I rather see it that way and have it repaired proffesionaly when and if it got too bad. This car has to go. I am reorganizing my life and will be getting a newer one. These cars are basically undestructible when you take care of them. I preffer to drive this car over a 2007 FJ cruiser and a 2001 MR2 (which I am also selling) this car is a good buy for someone who enjoys the comfort and luxury of an S class Merc.
