Vehicle Detail

1939 Packard Super Eight Touring Sedan Model 1703, 127 wheelbase Packard Sedan. The car went through a complete ground - up restoration in 2001. It has been judged at two Grand Classics scoring 96 out of 100 points each, and received National "JUNIOR" First Prize Winner in 2003 AACA. The 1939 Super Eight is the last to have the famous Packard aluminum crankcase and detachable block. It is the first to have a three speed transmission with overdrive and column shift. Considered to be a Full Classic by the CCCA. In 1939 this model Packard was selected the most "handsome" American car in an unbiased national opinion survey of all model cars of that year. It was referred to as "America's Most Beautiful Car" in a series of auto ads advertising Packard automobiles in 1939. The interior is upholstered in grey English wool cord purchased through Bill Hirsch as was the green wool carpet material. Interior window frames are beautifully wood grained and in excellent condition. The interior door handles and window cranks are original and in perfect condition with no pitting or discoloration. Running boards, interior/exterior trim, and hubcaps (reproductions) are in very good original condition. Beltline pin striping is cream. Exterior is finished in a two stage dark green base coat/clear coat and is flawless. 1940 (Packard) fender lights have been added as turn signals for safety. Side mount cover mirrors are exact reproductions with Packard script. The car is a smooth, comfortable drive and handles well at 55-60 MPH.
