Vehicle Detail

Up for auction is a rare, very nice original 76 GT500. I am a two stroke collector and I picked this bike up with hopes of keeping it but I have other projects that force me to part with this great original example of the last of Suzuki's big twin t500 series. They did make a 77 but those are few and far between. When I got the bike it would not idle properly and the petcock dripped when in the "prime" position. I went through the carbs and replaced the needles and seats. I also put in new bowl gaskets as the old ones were shabby. I have the petcock gasket but did not want to drain the tank to replace it so it comes with the bike and can easily be put in when the gas runs low or drained. I tried to keep the bike as original as possible but these items were replaced with NOS genuine Suzuki parts due to the fact that they needed attention; Rear fuel tank mount and rubber tank hold down strap, air filter, throttle tube with new hand grip, and two rear fender bushings. It has an incorrect Suzuki left hand grip, but I have a nice used correct grip that comes with the bike. The chrome is shiny and has very little if any signs of pitting. This bike fires on the second or third kick ice cold and first kick after being warmed up. It idles and runs out beautifully and has no bad spots throughout the rpm range. It sat in my garage for 2 months with not one drip spot. Of course the bike is not flawless so here are the things I know of that are wrong, and keep in mind I am very critical when describing this bike even though most who see it think its perfect. On the top of the front fender is a small ding. There is a small area on either side of the front of the tank that is chipped but not dented. It can be seen in the pictures. Also there is a bb sized ding above the S an the left side and next to that a bb size chip. Probably won't show up in a pic. Other than that the tank is shiny and beautiful everywhere else. The left side cover was broken when someone tried to scoot the bike sideways while on the stand. It was crudely glued and taped on the back, but doesn't look so bad when on the bike....can be seen in pic. The rear tire is not original, and the front may be but it has some tiny cracks from being dry.... should be replaced. A couple of small pits on the wheels and light rust on very few spokes... this will steel wool off and is almost unnoticeable already. Tool kit is missing. The front forks have small spots where the clear has wear . The engine cases have a little wearing of the clear, and the pipes have a couple acid stains, nothing major. Lastly, and I did not notice it before I bought it, it has a slight rattle when in neutral that goes away when the clutch is pulled in. Clutching and shifting are not affected and it cannot be heard when driving. Just to be safe it should be looked at but I don't believe it's anything major because the bike shifts and clutches fine. Even with these small things this is very nice clean looking bike that will appreciate in value over the years. All two strokes are getting bought up by collectors so don't miss this chance to own this rare example while it's still available! I would rather not ship the bike but I will assist if someone really wishes to do so, assuming they handle all the details. Please feel free to email with any questions or come take a look if you can. Clear Ohio title. Thanks for looking and good luck bidding!!!!!! On Feb-19-11 at 09:37:25 PST, seller added the following information: Just wanted to add that the clutch lever has a little of the black plastic coating missing from the ball on the end..... somehow I forgot to list that and wanted it to be known... Thanks and good luck!
