Vehicle Detail
I am the second owner of this sharp, low mileage and well maintained El Camino SS. Fully supported with all documentation so there is absolutely no question about this being a true V8 SS. Pictures in this case are worth 1000 words and you can clearly see there is absolutely no rust, especially where you would expect to see it. Please check out the lower door panels, fenders and quarter panels and you will see solid steel and steel that has never been replaced anywhere. Rubber seals are in "almost new condition". I can provide specific pictures via email if requested. This car/truck was rustproofed immediately from day 1, never seen bad weather, stored every winter and protected with PolyGuard Paint System. I would rate the paint as nice at 8 from 1-10. Two very small dings that I was unable to capture with the camera. I have all the maintenance records since new. The engine is original number matching 305cid 4 bbl. About 15 years ago some engine work was done with a new Comp cam (mild performance) and Rhodes lifters and a valve job with new guides and seals. The transmission was changed from a Turbo 350 (3 speed) to the 200R4 (4 speed) that was destined for a Buick GN. Since RPM's were no longer a problem with a overdrive transmission the rear end gearing was changed to a street performance 3.08 up from the anemic 2.41 ratio. This vehicle spent most of this decade stored and was not registered until mid last year. Today the car drives beautifully, better then new actually with better power, handling and mileage delivering around 21 MPG highway, sounds nice with stock style Monte Carlo SS dual exhaust system, new hi-flow catalytic converter and 1986 Monte Carlo SS rims with 215/60 15R tires. Everything works including the clock and is equipped with AC, tilt, PS, PB, limited slip ,Sport suspension, Speed control, SS package, Special instrumentation and much more. Please refer to the picture of the window sticker for a complete list of options. Since my ownership, I changed all fluids/filters, fresh tuneup, replaced headliner w/sunvisor's, front stereo speakers, catalytic converter and oxygen sensor. Although not required in Florida, all polution equipment is installed and fully functional for states requiring emmision legal vehicles. The bed has never been painted and is in excellent condition. The original owner provided me with new GM door seals (they do not need changing) GM rotors, calipers and pad's (do not need to be replaced) worth well over $700.00 that go with the vehicle. If you are looking for an original, non hacked, great running El Camino SS that's comfortable, in excellent condition with original interior with a perfect condition dash pad (some slight fading on passenger headrest), that's solid, drives straight and turns heads every place you go then this is the El Camino SS you want. One more thing, Ellie has never been smoke in, ever! Thanks for looking! On Feb-17-11 at 11:16:12 PST, seller added the following information: I have recieved questions on the following: The cam and valve job was done at 53,000 miles and was done mainly because it needed new seals. The valve job included new seals, bronze guides and CompCam roller rockers. The camshaft is a mild performance Compcam CS260-h with new lifters and pushrods. The transmission and rear end were done together and the transmission speedo gear was updated to keep it accurate. I have a full history of maintenance since new (hundreds of pages). The reading on the speedometer is accurate and has never been altered. Current mileage is 82,846.9 The exhaust was added at 73,000 miles and is in great shape. Tires appear good but are older and do not show any signs of dry rot. I tried to add new pictures of the bed but Ebay locks this function once a bid is placed. The bed is in almost like new condition and never painted or coated. I can send pictures to anyone that sends me an email with their address. All emission equipment is functional and working as is the computer controlled ignition, carburetor and knock sensor. Car is currently registered and insured as a antique which offers substantial savings. On Feb-21-11 at 19:32:28 PST, seller added the following information: New lower "Buy Me Now Price" and reserve. Don't miss out on this outstanding condition El Camino. No disappointments!
