1969 Jaguar E-type 4.2 Series II Coupe Please Read All This great and rare original e-type had three owners since. The car was originally sold by Melloy Bros. Inc in Albuquerque, New Mexico 1969. The first owner only had this car for about three years. The second owner purchased the car in 1973 and was also from Albuquerque. She purchased the car with about 26,000 miles. The car stayed in New Mexico and Colorado for almost 20 years on her ownership. When she sold the car in 1992 it had about 51,000 miles on the car. The e-type was then sold to a gentleman in North Carolina where it stayed from 1992 to early 2011. It currently has 75,872 miles. This Jaguar has documentation from 1972 to the 2010 (to the present). All service documentation is in a 2 inch binder. In addition this car has The Jaguar Daimler Heritage Certificate confirming the original color, both exterior and interior, as well as the original numbers that are on the car. The colors on this car are British racing Green with Cinnamon interior. It was built on May 28, 1969. This car is in mostly original condition. The paint on it is very old and mostly original. It does shows signs of its age with dings, scratches and dents. Also some fading and the paint is just old. Someone may want to repaint as it does look old, but it is an original type of car. The interior seats and upholstery are original. I believe some of the carpeting has been replaced because it looks really good and usually the carpets take the most wear on the interior. Structurally this car is solid. The floors look to be original and are some of the nicest original floors I have seen. A newer stainless steel exhaust was added. Furthermore, mechanically this car is sound. It has an upgraded electronic ignition as well as a spin on oil filter. I do have the original parts for both of these if someone wanted to switch back. The oil pressure at idle is about 50 pounds. The cold compression on the engine is in each cylinder : 1-140psi, 2-130, 3-130, 4-130, 5-130, 6-140. It runs and drives great with no hesitation. It is ready to get in and drive anywhere. Some of the more major mechanical work I have seen, is a new clutch and the engine head looks as if it was rebuilt. This car is equipped with Air Conditioning and it does work, as well as the other gauges work as well. Again, this is a car that is ready to go and is turn key. It can be driven right now and can probably outperform several "restored" cars. This is a great car for someone who appreciates originality and the true Jaguar E-type experience. This is NOT a car for someone who is looking for a fully restored trailer queen or a car that is cosmetically excellent. I have owned a lot of Jaguar E-types of every year and especially like the coupes because of their timeless beauty. Also don’t forget, 2011 is the 50th year to celebrate these phenomenal and legendary cars. To elaborate on the condition of this car, as I always try to represent my cars as honestly as I can: Paint: The paint on this car very old and tired. It would definitely benefit from a repaint. I believe the bonnet was repainted in the early 1970s. It has a lot of chips, especially on the front of the bonnet. There is also cracking in the paint on the bonnet as well. There are a few smaller dents and scratches on the car. These are all to be expected on a car that has over 40 year old paint. If you want your cars to look new and have brilliant paint, you will want to repaint this car. If I was going to keep this car I would probably paint it, but I like driving my cars, so would probably drive it for a while before I painted it. There is some fading on the paint as well, but again to be expetec for a car with 40 year old paint and that has been driven 75,000 miles. This is probably one of the more desirable color combinations on a coupe or roadster for that matter. Chrome: The chrome is original and shows some cloudiness and wear. It has not been rechromed. There are no significant dents or bends in the chrome. The chrome is nice for original, but keep in mind the chrome is also 40 years old as well. Interior: The interior is original so does show wear as it is 45 years old. There is more wear on the driver side as to be expected because the car is mostly driven solo. The driver side seat is torn from excess wear on the side bolster and also bottom. Both seats will need to be recovered to be presentable, but are useable as they are. The carpets are in good shape and I think they were replaced at sometime. The dash is in good shape. Also the headliner is in good shape and not sagging. The storage compartment is in great original shape with no tears. Wheels/Tires: The chrome wire wheels are in excellent original shape. The tires do not look that old and are in good shape as well. Underside/floors: The underside is in good original condition. I did not detail the underside as I wanted to show how nice and original it is. The floors and underside are solid. These are some of the nicest what appears to be original floors I have seen. No dents on the floors. The original jack points are still in excellent shape. The underside is solid. No rust corrosion. No excessive oil leaks, just usual seepage from these cars. The exhaust has been replaced with a newer stainless unit. Spare Tire Compartment/Spare Tire and Wheel: The spare tire compartment is very clean and original. It is in its original color of British racing green with the original padding. The spare wheel is in nice shape and the spare tire looks to be older. The hatch door opens and closes excellent with no sag or alignment issues. Engine Compartment: The engine compartment is in nice original shape and has not been detailed. Not abused or spray bombed black like a lot of cars are. It is the original BRG color on the frame rails and firewall as it should be. It is actually quite nice in the engine compartment. The underside of the hood has some paint flaking and paint peeling as it is original and showing signs of its age. Tools/Jack etc.: This does have the original tool kit. The original Jaguar tools are in good original shape. The original Jack and hammer are in good original shape as well. Overall: This is a good original car. The paint is older/original and that is probably the first thing one would notice. Please understand that unrestored does NOT mean in need of a full restoration, unless you are looking for a perfectly restored automobile. It probably will need paint and the seats recovered. If I was going to keep the car I would probably do that over time, but would drive it a lot before! This is not a tired old car, but a rare and original car that is ready to be enjoyed. A lot of collectors are buying originality rather then buying “restored” automobiles because they know the history and can always do work to improve them if they wish. These cars are very hard to find in this original condition that can be actually used and driven! In addition, very hard to find a car with ALL documentation from close to new as this one has. This great Jaguar will maintain its value and most likely go up in value as a good investment. Thy are only original once!
