Vehicle Detail
Up for auction is my 1978 Buick Electra Park Avenue, with just 93,500 original miles. This car is in nice condition and very original , including the factory paint that still shines. It is rust free. The interior is immaculate, with no tears in the luxurious pillow-top upholstery or cracks in the dash. The radio and cassette work great and sound great through the factory speakers. I have the original 8-Track that came out of the car, however it now has an AM/FM/cassette from a newer Electra. The antenna still goes up and down like it should. All of the windows work fine, as do all of the power locks. All the glass is intact, with no cracks. The heater works great--the previous owner replaced the heater core. The A/C, on the other hand, does not blow cold. The compressor comes on, but the freon leaks out slowly from one of the hose connections. It definitely is fixable. This car has the optional Oldsmobile 403 engine, and it runs beautifully. The car just passed the Oregon emissions test without a problem. The transmission shifts smooth and has no leaks. There are no rattles or weird noises when driving this car. It truly is a quiet and smooth ride. The body has only a few small parking lot dings, but no dents. The chrome is still shiny and in great shape. Every light works on the car, including the glove box and trunk. There are only a couple of flaws in the interior: The previous owner replaced the drivers door armrest with burgundy instead of tan. The other flaw is that the headliner is sagging. It doesn't touch my head, and really doesn't look that bad. This car is equipped with cruise control that works great, and also has intermittent wipers, that work as they should. The tires have good tread, and the wheels have the original hubcaps. Also, the brakes work perfectly. The steering is tight and the suspension lets this car float down the road, like it was made to. The trunk still has all of the carpeting, including the spare tire cover that is in good condition. The vinyl top is original and is a little faded, but is not torn. It still looks decent. This is the top-of-the-line Park Avenue edition, so one would expect the opera lamps to work, and they do. As do the headlight monitors on the front fenders and above the rear window. It's a really neat light show at night. This car is just a pleasure to drive, and still gets looks wherever it goes. It's my daily driver and extremely dependable. I also have the original owners manual and a genuine 1978 GM Buick shop manual. If you need more pics, or specific pics, please let me know, and I can send them to you. First, the car does have dual power front seats. Also the carpet is in nice condition, even where you enter the car. Last, the car is being locally, so I reserve the right to end the auction at any time.
