Vehicle Detail

FOR SALE BY PRIVATE SELLER/OWNER 1970 DODGE CHALLENGER CONVERTIBLE - I bought the car in 2001 from a seller in Texas and have put the car through a TOTAL restoration that was completed in 2005. I have all receipts for parts and services. The shop doing the restoration specializes in MOPARS and is professional. I will try to list everything done to bring the car to life, but if you have a question, please ask. This is a numbers matching car in regards to the engine block. The heads have been replaced. The transmission and drivetrain are original, with an 8 3/4 rear end. The car came from factory Banana Yellow. It is now painted metallic Hemi orange. Everything on the car was replaced new or the best replacement to be found, and some upgrades were made. Since the restoration was completed, I have put about 1000 miles. Most restorers and collectors mainly look at the engine and a few other items to qualify a car as numbers matching. Realistically, what are the chances of having the original carburetor, master cylinder, etc. I am trying to be as honest as possible about this car. Car has working factory air conditioning, power steering, and power brakes. Original automatic transmission with "Slap Stik" shifter. All suspension bushings and grommets were replaced. Brand new tail light and aluminum (machined) bezels. The starter was replaced with a hi-torque starter. The engine is a 340 4V (Vin H) with a Holley 670 Avenger, manual choke, TRW pistons @ .030, mains and inserts @ .010, brass valve guides, stainless steel valves, heavy duty valve springs, chrome moly valve retainers, and balanced crankshaft. The camshaft is a COMP Cam 275 DEH. A high volume oil pump and high volume Carter fuel pump were added, along with electronic ignition, silver "Jet Coat" coated Flow headers, Weiand aluminum intake manifold, new 4 pass radiator and all new hoses and fluid reservoirs. New master cylinder, wheel cylinders, new water pump, power steering pump and steering sector. The brake areas have been painted. The interior is all new with working rally gauges and AM radio. All door panels and dash pad were replaced new. The steering wheel was reworked by a professional and is a working "rim-blow". The floor pan joints were all primed, sealed with urethane and painted. The convertible roof works with the touch of a switch and is a new black coachman grain vinyl. The rally wheels are reconditioned and come with Goodyear F70-15 Polyglass tires. The rally T/A hood and trunk lid are fiberglass and new. New fuel tank with new fuel tank sending unit. Brand new stainless steel brake lines were installed. There are a few little imperfections such as chrome plated plastic items. The chromed plastic around the shifter and door items have small splits, as well as the the chromed bumpers show a few little splits. The body between the trunk lid and the rear window have splits from the body being very flexible and being a convertible. Mopar enthusiasts will know what I am talking about. These are very minor imperfections. Also the headlight bezels are not perfect . They are hard to find new (almost impossible). I bought 2 pair at Texas Acres and used the best pair I could put together. I have never been able to find the rear of console ash tray for smokers in the back seat. No one has ever smoked in the vehicle. I have the original window sticker that came with the car on the showroom floor. The car is super clean and probably nicer than when it was new. I purchased all the replacement paper and stick-on decals, such as safety tags on the visor and inside the trunk lid explaing how to use the jack. I really hate to part with this car, but I need to sell it for personal reasons. It is a real head turner. I have never taken it to a show, but people have told me it would be a real hit, maybe win a few prizes. It looks so good I hate to drive it, which is another issue. It needs to be driven more and I don't have the time. I have a 2008 Challenger SRT8. The car has always been kept covered and in a wharehouse, except for occasional driving. People have told me this car is one of the nicer resto's they have ever seen. I have about $75,000 capital investment in this car. Check out the NADA and Kelly Blue Book value and then decide. If you are a MOPAR enthusiast, you owe yourself to take a look. At this price, you could afford to come take a look before you buy, to satisfy your curiosity. HAPPY BIDDING
