I am offering for auction a 1973 Mustang Convertible from my private collection. It features a 351 2V Cleveland engine,C-6 automatic transmission,power disc brakes,power steering,deluxe interior package,exterior sport package and dealer installed A/C with only 46,626 original miles. I have known this car since the day it rolled off the showroom floor, as well as the two families that owned it before myself. It has always been considered a summer fun car, and never a daily driver. The first owner had the dealer install A/C in the car after a short time of use during the humid Illinois summers. The unit is not Ford, but it was made for Mustang and works well. The car was re-painted by the second owner some time ago. The reason for the re-paint was the original lacquer was starting to look thin and blotchy. The re-paint was performed by a professional shop without taking the car apart. They did a wonderful job of masking and edge paint, saving the original door jambs, inner doors, deck lid back, and under the hood. The car has never been taken apart for any reason. It has never been wrecked or rusted. The paint work that was done was on a fully assembled car, and turned out excellent. The body panel alignments are all factory Ford. The doors shut with just a click. Hood,fenders and deck lid fit proper. This car still supports most of it's original Ford tags,paint marks and instruction and information stickers. The body is very straight and the paint has a nice finish showing a minimal amount of minor chips or scratches. The sport package consists of dual sport mirrors, the NASA hood, hood locks, blacked out lower body and lower body stainless molding, deluxe grill, and aluminum slotted wheels. All are in great shape condition. The interior is the deluxe package featuring comfort weave inserts, leather wrapped steering wheel,deluxe door panels,automatic seat release. The interior shows well with minor flaws. The driver side door panel has a crack in the arm rest and was repaired in a amateur fashion. The rear interior side panels have a slight amount of sun deterioration and the original black carpet has slight fade. In short, the interior is very good but not perfect. It has the appearance of a 10 yr old car instead of a 38 yr old one. No paint work has ever been done to the engine or engine compartment. The engine supports many of the original paint markings and Mfg stickers. It appears to have never been apart other than normal maintenance. The engine explodes to life with a touch of the key, with no smoke or leaks. It runs smooth and strong. I have noticed over the years, if it sits for a month or more at a time it does have a lifter tic that disappears after a few minutes of running. The glass is original and all good. The windshield has two small rock chips that are barely visible and have been there many years without any issues. The bright work is excellent and the stainless is straight and bright. The rear bumper looks good in the sun, but under shop lighting it has some pitting , but still looks bright. The steering is tight and tracks proper. It has been serviced by a Ford dealer and is correct...Over the time I have owned the car I have added some items to it that could have been installed by the dealer as an option when the car was new. These items consist of Mustang accent stripe, chin spoiler, rear deck spoiler,black convertible top as well. In my opinion giving the car more curb appeal. This is a well maintained adult owned extremely solid car. I am veteran car collector and I treat people the way I want to be treated, with honesty,respect and the knowledge to know what I am looking at.
