Vehicle Detail
This Auction is for a 1956 Pontiac FireChief 4 door Sedan.... The Title says its a Firechief, but on-line it lists it as a 1956 Pontiac Chieftian 870 "Special Series" 56-27 Catalina Sedan. It has the 316 V8 with a automatic. The person I bought it from pulled the transmission because it had a leak, then never put it back in or fixed the leak, and had to sell the car. My wife says I have enough cars and don't need this one. So I'm getting rid of it. I have posted a lot of pictures and a video. The body seems solid and straight other than a dent in the drivers side door and drivers side front fender, that would be easy to straighten. Due to a request I checked out the electrical, What I found was great. the headlights (except one is broken) and tail lights all work, as does the under hood light and the glovebox light. in fact the only lights I found that don't work is the front park lights. even the backup lights work... Oh and as stated in another part of the description the dome light does not seem to work... Odometer is Showing 66,062 Miles although I can't be sure if that is correct... I got it started and it does run, but I believe the electric fuel pump is not working properly, It starts right up by dripping a little gas in the carb, but the fuel pump won't continue to pull the fuel from the tank. The interior is in great shape as you can see in the pictures other that the drivers side arm rest as you will see in the video. All in all this would be a great car to rebuild. This car is not drivable in it's current condition, as the transmission is not in it, and the brakes do not work. It does have power steering I am sellling it as a restorable car, it seems to be complete right down to the jack in the truck. In looking it over it appears to have all the stainless and chrome, and it is all in either good enough shape to leave alone or make a good solid core for rechroming. Again other than the little bend in the part on the front drivers side door. I will be happy to add new pictures to the web site if there is any parts you would like to see. See pictures here http://magicclassiccars.com/1956pontiac.aspx to see the video http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=APbycrmigls The buyer will be responsible for paying shipping but I will help out in any way I can as far as loading and such. Complete payment is required by time of pickup, and a $500.00 deposit is required at time of auction closing.. I must repeat again this is not a drivable car but is sold as is to be restored or parts... It does appear to be a complete car, and some of the parts alone are worth what I am selling the whole car for. I would think that it would take a minimal amount of work to get this back on the road and be driving it while you were fixing it up... Just a note... I had one person get a hold of me that says he believes this is a Chieftian and that there is no such thing as a FireChief......I have to put that in here just because it was mentioned, and I want to make sure I am totally open on the sale.... If you have questions please ask, also feel free to Google Pontiac FireChief .... please make sure you want it before you bid... No Reserve so High Bid gets it!!!! Don't miss out..... Thanks
