Vehicle Detail
I'm no salesman but I'll do my best to accurately describe this car! The bottom line - the interior is GREAT - the engine may need a bit of work and the car is hopefully going to be priced right for you! Please feel free to ask additional questions. Interior: The best part about this car is probably the interior. If I were to rate it - I'd say it's an 8.5/10 when compared to cars of similar age. I don't want to mislead potential buyers - it's a 2003 so if you're looking for a brand new car, obviously this isn't it. The leather is really in good shape, no significant cracks, cuts, etc. Radio, CD, tape work just fine. Driver's seat is the most worn - not that many passengers were ever in this car. NOT A SMOKER and the car does not smell like smoke (ew that is awful - I wouldn't/couldn't buy a car like that and I can appreciate if you wouldn't want to either). Engine/Trans:The 1.8T is quite a bit of fun to drive. The timing belt was changed at 90k. Regular oil changes, etc. The transmission has recently started shifting a bit rough from 1-2 but everything else seems fine and it's only an issue when it's super cold. Once the car warms up it's fine. Seems like it could be the solenoid valve from what I can google (http://forums.subdriven.com/showthread.php?4188370-02-1.8T-Jetta-not-shifting-gears-from-1st-when-cold/page2). It's been like this for a couple weeks when its gotten cold- hasn't been a problem - just on and off when the car warms up. Just had the radiator hose and flange replaced (car overheated - $450 later). Check engine light intermittently comes on - had it checked 8 mo ago and was told it is an O2 sensor. Haven't fixed it but haven't had any issues with it. Body/Tires:Body is in pretty good shape. Plain looks good - no apparent rust. Few dents, scratches here and there - about what you could/should expect from a 2003 but nothing all that noticeable or notable. Rims have a couple minor cub scratches - again nothing really significant but I'd rather be up front about it. Tires are OK. I'd guess they'll need to be related within a year or two. I've been driving in wintery weather with no real issues lately. Misc: Selling because I already purchased a new car. Car is currently titled in MN but I don't think that should be an issue. Please note - this car was has been in accidents but has been repaired! You are responsible for checking the car history and being aware of the car's history. THE CAR IS SOLD AS IS. NO WARRANTY. Bidders under 5 - please do not bid without contacting the seller. NO LIENS on the title. I'm more than happy to answer questions. My one caution would be - if you're looking for a car you can drive home tomorrow and not plan on putting any work into - you may want to spend the money and buy new. I loved this car but she's 7-8 years old and not perfect! I hope you'll treat her well. On Jan-29-11 at 07:17:43 PST, seller added the following information: Please don't hesitate to ask question! I'm no mechanic and can't promise to have specific details but I can tell you I drove the car to work on Friday (approx 40 miles each way). On that note - I'll also offer my disclaimer: the car is exactly as pictured (took the photos on Friday night and haven't driven it since) and I've done my best to describe it as accurately as possible but I'm not responsible for any errors or omissions. Buyer is responsible for taxes, title, registration, transportation and any other fees. Happy bidding! On Jan-30-11 at 19:50:39 PST, seller added the following information: Car is currently located in Northern NJ (near NYC).
