Vehicle Detail

Are you ready for some swagger in your life? 1989 Mercedes 300TE ** I have included over 50 pictures, so please make sure all the pictures load. Many will tell you how nice their car is, but I am sure you will see that a picture really is worth 1000 words! Check out the pics and bid with confidence!! I am selling my very cool, and very unique 300TE. Of all the 300 series cars I have seen, this one is the most unique, and in the best shape of any that I looked at prior to my purchase. I purchased the 300TE with plans of dropping a 500 series V8 into it, and having my girlfriend use it as her daily driver. Little did I know that she absolutely HATES wagons, so she hated driving it. I have decided to cut my losses, and sell the Swagger Wagon so that we can buy her a car more to her liking. The Good:Beautiful black paint: The car has been repainted professionally in the past few years, and its condition top notch.New 18" OEM Mercedes wheels with brand new tires: Beautiful 18" OEM Mercedes wheels (no cheap, aftermarket crap here..) updates the car and really improves the looks over a stock TEProfessionally lowered suspension gives the TE a sporty look.Very good condition interior is one of the best I have seen! Quality tint Quality, aftermarket stereo headunitHeat works greatAC has been converted and works greatNo check engine lights, or any other "faults" or idiot lights3rd row, rear facing seatVery solid vehicleStarts and runs every time. I would not think twice about driving this car on a cross country trip!But....Like all used cars, and especially one that is over 22 years old, this car has a few issues.I will do my best to outline each and every issue, so you have all the info needed to make an informed purchase. The issues:- This car is LOW. Don't expect to use it for bombing down gravel roads, it's certainly not a SUV. During hard turning, there is some slight rubbing on the front, inner fender. This issue can be resolved by a simple "fender roll" which will give the tires more clearance during hard, fast turns. - The odometer broke at 145k and this car has logged another 15k since then for a total of 160k on the body. - The original motor (the one with 160k) had low compression in 2 cylinders, so I spent over 1500.00 to install a new (used) motor in. This motor had 110k miles in it, and was pulled from another 300 series that had been wrecked in the rear. * I still have the original motor, which is available to the winning bidder. You can take the whole motor, or you can strip any desired parts from it for future use.* When installing the new motor, I had new belts installed. Its a real pain to replace the belts on these cars, so I figured it would be a good idea to do it while they were doing the install. - The power antenna does not work. The radio gets great reception, but the antenna does not retract into the body when the radio is turned off. - The new motor has strong compression and runs fine, but I can see that it could benefit from a turn up and the installation of a new set of plugs and wires. I am done spending money on this car, so I am leaving this to the new owner, should they decide to perform a tune up. - While the interior is near perfect, it has one flaw that should be mentioned: the drivers side, rear door card is missing the handle/door pull. The door card/panel is not damaged, but the door pull is missing. I assume the previous owner had the panel off, and somehow lost or misplaced the handle. This part should be easy to find, but you will just need to take your time and find one in the matching blue. - The right (passenger side) driving light was broken, so I have both of them covered with black tape to mask the damage. The cost to replace the entire light assembly is around 100.00 (plenty of these available on ebay) or, I would recommend you upgrade the lights to the much better looking euro style lights, which is what I was going to do. - The tires could use a balance. I think there may be one that had some weights fall off, because you get a slight vibration at lower speeds. The slight vibration goes away after the car gets up to road speeds. - I have gone over this car top to bottom, and found one two very small areas where you could find rust. Rust area #1: On the left rear, below the window there are 4 or 5 "bubbles" that look to be very light surface rust. Nothing to be alarmed about, and not really easy to find unless you are looking hard. Rust area #2 On the right rear, just above the rear bumper cover, there is a 1.5" area of light rust that is right along the edge of the body panel. I talked to my body shop, and they felt that this could be fixed for less than 300.00. Again, hard to notice unless you are really looking hard, but I wanted to bring this to your attention in the interest of full disclosure. So that's about it.What you are getting is a beautiful, unique, and certainly cool Mercedes wagon that is in great shape, well sorted out, and has minimal issues for a car of it's age.I think you would be hard pressed to find a 300 series in nicer condition for twice the price! The details:Payment- I accept cash, certified check, money orders, and cash. Payment must be made in full within 7 days of the auction closing. A 500.00 deposit is due within 48 hours.Shipping- I would be happy to work with the buyers shipping company, but the car must be picked up at 37398. I will not transport the car to a shipping hub.Overseas buyers- Im not interested in your Nigerian scams! You are welcome to come inspect and drive the car prior to the auction ending. All bids finalLocal buyers- This car is being offered locally as well, so I reserve the right to cancel all bids and sell locally.Pictures: The "issues" Rust Area #1 Rust area #2 Missing door pull: This part of the lens cover is broken. The lens cover can be replaced with a brand new one for 60.00, or you can replace the entire light assembly for around 100.00 to 120.00 I am happy to help you source the part. Thanks for taking the time to look at my 300TE.Good luck, and happy bidding!!!!
