Vehicle Detail

This is it collectors!! A fantastic unmolested all original 1974 Rickman CB750 much to nice to restore, even the original leather tank strap is in great shape. This bike spent most of it's life in a motorcycle theme restaurant before going to auction in Las Vegas a few years back. Was running nicely for a couple shows and short rides when put in my collection 4 years ago in in an AC controlled showroom. Will need fluids and battery if you want it to run or just hold on to this jewel. No Title.. Bill of sale only Engine Number:CB750E-2057702. Most of you are familiar with the history of these ground breaking motorcycles but the following is a brief description for those who might not. When Honda came out with its CB750 in 1969, it brought new levels of sophistication to the street. But while the 750’s four-cylinder power and disc brakes were big advances, the bike’s frame, flimsy by today’s standards, was still a limiting factor. Derek and Don Rickman had a solution. The Rickman brothers started out as motocross racers in the 1940s, improving their British-built racebikes by building lighter, stiffer frames. By the 1970s, the Rickmans had expanded to produce frames for a variety of dirt, street and racing motorcycles, including Honda’s hot new 750. The buyer of a Rickman CR750 chassis got a frame made of exotic manganese molybdenum steel tubing, a stiff swingarm with a proprietary chain adjustment system, cafe racer-style fiberglass bodywork, clip-ons, rearsets, a replacement front fork, and upgraded brakes and wheels. A CB750 engine, electrics and controls slotted right in. With all that going for it, a Rickman CR kit wasn’t cheap. It cost about the same as a complete CB750. That, plus their limited nature, made a CR750 one of the most lustworthy machines of the early ’70s. Rickman Motorcycles Brief History of the Marque: Rickman Best known for their Metisse frames, Rickman made frame and body kits for competition off-road bikes such as Montesa and Zundapp, and sports road bikes most famous of which were probably the Rickman Hondas, SOHC Honda Four powered machines which were state of the art in the early 1970s. There were also Matchless roadracers, the Enfield powered Rickman Interceptor, the Triumph Metisse - much favoured for desert racing in the United States - and the mighty Rickman Kawasaki 900.
