Vehicle Detail
This is a good candidate for a Winter project that can be on the street by Spring! I am selling on behalf of the owner, who has a clear title on this North Texas car. I will list in bullet points what I know about the car both from the owner and from my own inspection:The car has been sitting for a while, but I was able to get it running on the second or third turn of the key, once I put a battery charger on the battery. The battery may not be keeping full capacity. The auto transmission was reported to slip in 1st gear. After getting the car running, I was able to drive it a short distance. The transmission does slip, but in at least the first two forward gears as well as reverse, so it may just be in need of a flushing out, new filter and maybe some adjustments that can be done from under the car. No promises, but I think this is a case of neglecting the fluid levels and age.The car had sat for a while with the sunroof and windows down, so rain entered the car on multiple occasions. The reason I guess they didn't care was because the interior was already fairly trashed. I was able to close the sunroof with much effort by rocking the switch back and forth and pushing it a little with one hand. It needs work. The windows rolled up, but I do not think they are fully seated in their tracks. The rear hatch doesn't fully latch.Wheels and tires are decent.Body is fairly straight, with some minor scratches. Overall, the original paint is fair, but not great.Rear lights do not seem to work at the moment. After I got the car to run, and figured there was some sort of electrical problem, I put a second battery in the back and jumpered it so I could test drive the car. That worked, but after a few minutes of running, and only about 50 yards of driving, smoke started to enter the cabin through the air vents, and I suspected it was from an electrical meltdown of some sort. After getting it started again, I backed up to the parking spot and killed it. Later, the next day, I tried to start it but as soon as I turned the key, the starter began to spin and would not stop, even after turning the key off. The only way I could get it to stop was to slip it into reverse and the starter immediately stopped. That's how it sits now. It may start, but the starter motor keeps spinning. The motor, sans the previously explained electrical issue, runs great! Started up easy after not running for several months, and started up several times on the first try, up until the time I drove it. This is where the value is at the very least. If somebody decides to part this out, the motor is definitely the best thing about it.98,208 miles ain't bad for a 1983 watercooled V-8 Porsche! So, I've been about as brutally honest as I could, and if you need more info let me know. I am using some photos that I already had on the computer, but I can take more if you have need to see more. Just let me know! This is definitely a buyer pick-up. The car is in Waxahachie, TX, zip is 75165. It is in a back drive, but I can have it on the street and ready for a flatbed or trailer with no problem. There are no accessories or extra parts, no radio, no documentation. What you are buying is a stinkin' good deal on a project car that can be brought back pretty easily and become worth several thousand more than what you'll buy it for. Porsche V-8! You've gotta have it, right? No warranty, no guarantees of any kind except the guarantee that you'll have to put work and money into this to get your gem. $600 deposit is required from high bidder within 24 hours of close of sale.
