Vehicle Detail
Up for "No Reserve" auction is an original 1981 Alfa Spider time warp car with 37,000 original miles. I purchased this Spider from the original owner about 1 1/2 years ago. It was always used as a weekend car, and had been garaged it's entire life. Unfortunately the owner became ill, and stopped driving his beloved Spider. The Alfa had sat for about 10 years unused in his garage. This is an easy restoration project that needs a drivetrain and other misc. work. Would make the perfect winter project for a very low investment. When I took possession of the Alfa, I was amazed at how well preserved the Alfa was and that it is truly a time warp car. As stated it had only covered 37,000 when it was parked and not used. The body is in good original condition with all original panels including the rocker panels. The rocker panels still retain the factory seams and are all original. There are some misc rust spots that developed while the Alfa sat unused - they are cosmetic only. The floor pans & jacking points are all in very good condition with no rust or damage. The same for the spare tire well. Front sway bar mounts and radiator support area are solid and rustfree. No history of accident damage, and all panels are straight with good gaps. Paint shined up nicely after a wash and wax, however the paint is a bit dull from being stored outside. Some compound will bring it back nicely again. Both bumpers are in excellent shape and the rear bumper does not have the typical rust that is found on these bumpers. Exterior door handles are in good shape with with keys. Both exterior side view mirrors in nice shape as well. Interior is near perfect and looks and smells almost new. Being garaged it's entire life has really preserved the interior. The dash is uncracked and the door panels are beautiful. Both seats are in nice shape with a small split on the driver's side seat bottom. Has the original dealer installed stereo and speakers. Has factory electric windows. All glass in good condition. Has original factory Turbina wheels. Wood steering wheel is in beautiful shape with no cracks or damage or wear. The center console is apart from when the transmission was removed. The original engine had no compression in several cylinders, so my plan was to pull the drivetrain and rebuild as needed. Well, that was as far as I got with the Alfa. The drivetrain ultimately was used for another Alfa project. At this point, I have other projects I am focusing on, and would like to find a good "Alfa" home for this great project. This would be the perfect project for someone with a small budget but has large taste. Drivetrains are easy to find, so if you have one sitting in the garage, you need this Spider! I have the original window sticker as well as the original title documenting the 37,047 original miles. To summarize: The following parts are missing: Engine, transmission & exhaust manifold & tachometer. Also, the tail lights were removed, but I believe I have a pair that I will include if I find them. A friend borrowed the Speedometer, and I will try and get that back as well. There may be a few other misc items missing, but nothing else that I can think of. The pictures were all taken when I purchased the Alfa 1 1/2 years ago. It had been garage stored but has been outside for the last 9 months or so. As a result, it's a bit dirty and the paint has dulled a bit. With a good wash and was, it will look just like the pictures. Brakes/hydraulics will need to be gone through. I have a "Parish Plastics" white hardtop that may be available for an additional $450.00 if the winning bidder would like to puchase. The hardtop is in excellent condition. The fine print: If you have 0 feedback or more than 2 negative feedback ratings, you must contact me prior to bidding. A non refundable deposit of $500.00 is due within 24 hours of the auction end date, preferably by Paypal. You must contact me within 24 hours of the end of the auction to discuss the details of the sale. The balance is due within 7 days of the auction end date. The Alfa must be picked up with 10 days of the auction end date. A $10.00 per day storage fee will be charged after the 10 day period unless prior arrangements have been made. I have sold several Alfa's to overseas buyers with the buyers being extremely pleased with the sale. My 100% feedback speaks for itself, so you can bid with confidence. Looking for a great home for my beloved Spider. If you have any questions, please do not hesitate to contact me, I will do my best to answer any questions that you may have. This is a "No Reserve" auction, so high bidder will win this auction. I do reserve the right to end the auction early and will also consider all serious offers. On Jan-25-11 at 08:38:04 PST, seller added the following information: The Speedometer has been located and will be included in the sale of the Alfa.
