You are bidding on a VERY RARE N-code 360 HP 429 4V Thunder Jet 4-speed 1970 Mercury Cyclone. This car is an ORIGINAL 1970 N-code 4-speed Cyclone that was ordered in this code 'D' Competition Yellow exterior paint and code ‘KA’ Black Vinyl Bench Seat Interior. As you can see by the pictures this car is a restoration project but is a fairly straight and relatively solid car to start with!! I found this car in a 'REAL' barn on a farm in Ohio and purchased it from a long time owner who had drag raced the car for some time. Due to it's long term storage and limited Drag Racing use the body of this life long Ohio car is surprisingly SOLID with low original miles! This 1970 Mercury Cyclone was originally ordered and sold in the Cleveland, OH Sales District through Bender Higdon Lincoln Mercury in Medina, OH. It was originally ordered as a Retail Sale unit in the Cleveland, OH (33) DSO and was equipped as follows: N-code 429-4V Thunder Jet 360 HP V8 Engine, 4-speed Close Ratio Manual Transmission, 3.25 Axle Ratio, Traction-Lok Differential, G78-14 White Sidewall Tires, Power Disc Brakes, AM Radio, and Competition Suspension with Staggered shocks. This is a very RARE performance optioned 1970 Mercury Cyclone. This was the BASE model Cyclone with no scoops, stripes, spoilers, optional wheels or anything to say hey look at me I am a Mercury Gunship!! With it’s High Performance N-Code 360HP 429-4V Thunder Jet Engine and Big Spline Nascar Inspired Close Ratio 4-speed Toploader Transmission backed up by a bullet proof 3.25 Traction-Lok 9 inch Rear End this car was for all intents and purposes a Spoiler in disguise…Stealth by today’s standards, but by old school rules this was a SLEEPER!! Could you imagine pulling up next to this thing in 1970 expecting a mundane 302 or 351-2v grocery getter only to have your clock cleaned by this 429 Cyclone?? This Cyclone is a TRUE BARN FIND that needs a total restoration. During its drag racing days a 460 and C-6 found its way under the hood. The car still has a traction-lok rear axle too! It runs and yard drives with the current powertrain; but has been sitting in the barn for quite sometime and off the road. I do have a correct but non-matching 360HP 429-4V Thunder Jet and a Big Spline Nascar Close Ratio Toploader 4-speed transmission with an original Hurst shifter that goes with the car as part of the auction. Additionally I have a Cyclone Spoiler Gauge Dash Package that I am including with this car even though it did not come from the factory with it. I just think they look so cool that it would be an awesome upgrade for this car. The floors, torque boxes, rails, and cowl are all very decent in this car. The hood, fenders, and trunk lid were all replaced with rust free pieces. The doors are very solid on the car as well. The Code 'D' Competition Yellow paint you see is the ORIGINAL paint so there is no hidden body work anywhere. The only real rust to speak of is in the lower 1/4's and it is not all that bad.(See Pics) I consider this Cyclone to be an IDEAL Restoration candidate with its unique color combination and performance options. The fact that it is such a solid car makes it the perfect platform to make some lucky Ebay Cyclone Fan a SUPER PROJECT. This is truly a great car to fully restore!!! This is a GREAT find as a BASE N-code 4-speed Cyclone with a Deluxe Marti Report to verify its authenticity and option list. Don't hesitate on this one!!!! Imagine yourself behind the wheel of this 1970 429 4-speed Mercury Cyclone cruising to the Beach, the Lake or your Favorite Cruise in and turning heads as you go by with that Big Block Rumble! The 15 inch Magnum 500's on this car are for another car of mine and are being used for photographic purposes only on this Cyclone and thus not a part of this auction. The Cyclone will have a set of roller wheels installed at time of delivery.
