Vehicle Detail
1966 Monza 4Speed. Solid CA car. Custom House of Colors Red over white base paint with Lavender ghost flames. The pictures don't do it justice. This is a very pretty car. Body is rust free and straight. There are a few chips that could be touched up with some Red; each door edge near the handle, engine cover edge at the top, trunk lid edge at the cowal. These chips are from improper alignment of the panels. The white base is showing so it would be pretty easy. The interior fair. Good headliner, rear seat and rear side panals. Carpet is hand cut not molded. Front seats and side panals are junk. Dash pad is cracked but I have a good used one. The steering wheel is bad. It looks like someone tried to get it off and couldn't. I bought this car five years ago and it was badly mis-represented. I was so disappointed that I just put it in the barn under cover and never looked at it until now. What it needs. The engine seems to be solid. It ran pretty good when I got it but the muffler was so loud I couldn't hear it. I put a stock muffler on and it could use a valve adjustment. It has been setting for five years so the carbs need rebuilt. It starts and runs but idles bad. It leaks oil. My best guess is push rod tube o rings. This is common and not a bad job in the car. The motor to body gasket is gone (there is a good used one) and this allowed the leaking oil to blow up into the engine compartment (uck). The clutch needs adjusted or replaced. The transmissin shift rod seal has a slow drip. Shift linkage bushings feel sloppy. Rear control arm Bushings are junk. Brakes need replaced. I have new drums and shoes ($140.00) that fit it. The tires are old. rotten, wornout. It has Corsa gages but the tach is not hooked up. The bottom line is that you would have a beautiful $3000.00 paint job that would take some mechanical work that could be done in your garage. In a few months you would have something for cruise night. Check out my other items!
