Vehicle Detail

If you are reading this you are bidding on a 1965 Mustang 2+2. I have owned this car since February of 1988 so I will take a minute and tell you some of the history. I have a clear certificate of Title in the state of MO. The VIN is listed above. The mileage at the time I bought the vehicle was 165,493. I have no idea what the current mileage is on it because I immediately switched to the 66 style instrument cluster since I liked it better. I do have the original 1965 instrument cluster. It has been sitting in a box since 1988. I am guessing that I have put an additional 30,000 miles on it since I purchased it but I am not sure. This car was just driven as a typical daily driver until about 1992 when I started drag racing it. For several years it was no big deal. No serious mods for a while running 14 second quarter miles. Gradually over time the car was modified and slightly cut up until 1998 when I pretty much gave up on drag racing and pursued other hobbies. Since that time it has spent half it's life indoors. I had a itch about 8 years ago and an itch about 2 years ago to do something with the car and each of those 2 times started taking it apart to prepare for it's next life which was going to be a pro street type build. 600-700 hp. Needless to say I never got very far with it each time and I am getting sick of pushing it around and dealing with it all the time. All you experts should be able to look up the VIN and verify how the car was born. For those of you that are not experts the best I can remember is it was assembled in St. Louis, it was a red 289 2V automatic with power steering. It also has the center console which is in restorable condition complete with trap door, rear ashtray and automatic shifter indicator. There is no motor, no transmission, no heater core, no heating control linkage, no ducting, no wiper motor, no wiper linkage, no factory wiring, no headliner, no carpet. I am trying to be very explicit so that you know this thing needs a total restoration. The body is in pretty good condition except for the rear tail lamp panel. The car rolled into my pickup which had the hitch and ball in rear bumper at the time. The front fenders are reproduction Taiwon purchased and painted with the rest of the body in 1990. The hood is cut and has a thunder bolt galaxy tear drop bubble on it which was shaved down an inch or two. Also I have another hood that goes with the car if you want it. The rear quarters were replaced as well. I think it was the short ones. They were done right and installed by a true professional. Unfortunately the paint is pretty wasted. The glass is in pretty good shape as well. It has been a long time since I scrubbed the glass down but I do know there are no cracks or chips. All the glass is factory original. The front suspension is partly disassembled, was going to put in a rack and pinion. It will steer enough to get it on a trailer is about it. Shock towers are good. I always ran an export brace and a one piece monte carlo bar (I think that is what they are called). The rear end is a stock length 9" housing out of a 69 model car. It has a 4:88 -1 gear set in a Strange case with full size aluminum spool and I think 35 spline axles. I know for certain they are not 28 or 31 spline. Floor pans are pretty wasted. I cut the valance off the dash to make it look like a Falcon. Sub frame connectors were put in but not done properly. The opening in front of radiator was cut out to accomodate larger radiator. Previous owner cut 6" holes in the doors and the trap door for speakers. I know I am going on and on about this. I'm trying to give you guys as much history and as much information so you can make a real evaluation on this thing. This car is not for everyone since it needs so much work, I just want to make sure you understand what you are getting yourself into. Don't get me wrong, I have seen a lot of these cars in much worse condition sell for pretty good money here. I am sure there is a lot I haven't covered that you will want to know about. As long as the questions aren't stupid I will post them and answer them as quickly as I can. If you need some good specific photo's I will try to get them up as soon as possible. Terms: $500.00 deposit within 24 hours. Remaining balance due within 5 days of auctions end. Vehicle pickup within 5 days of auctions end. Please don't ask what the reserve is, please don't ask to end the auction early. If you want to view this vehicle I will be available ONLY on Saturday January 15th from noon till 5:00 p.m. I am located 45 minutes west of downtown St. Louis, MO. If you plan to come see it send me a message and I will give you the address and directions. Good luck
