Powered by the state-of-the-art turbo-diesel V8 6.0-liter Power Stroke diesel (with hydraulic rail direct pilot injection and four valves per cylinder), this 2004 Ford Excursion 4x4 Limited offers best-in-class power, with 325 horsepower and 560 pounds-feet of torque. Introduced in mid-2003, this new-generation diesel was designed for less noise, cleaner emissions, and better efficiency than the larger, but less powerful, diesel that it replaced. Expect about 16 to 20 mpg, yielding a range of more than 700 miles from its 44-gallon fuel tank. The five-speed automatic transmission that comes exclusively with the diesel offers a Tow-Haul mode which, when activated, automatically minimizes shifts andmaximizes available torque. Exterior is Mineral Gray Clearcoat with chrome accents,and running boards for easy access to the interior. Yokohama tires are new (mounted 12/1/10) have very well-kept 16" Limited aluminum wheels. Roof rack provides even more available cargo storage space. Keyless entry keypad is very convenient by allowing keyless access with a 5-number code that only the owner knows. Interior is Medium Parchment leather with Limited logo stitching, cherry woodgrain trim and tan carpet. Loaded with ammenities: power vented rear quarter windows, Reverse Sensing System (very handy when backing up such a large vehicle!), automatic climate control, trip computer, auto-dimming rearview mirror, front and rear A/C with separate controls, tons of storage and cupholders for every row of seating, power and heated driver and front passenger and driver memory, steering controls for am/fm/in-dash cd changer, DVD entertainment system with wireless headphones, power windows, door locks, power adjustable pedals (great for shorter and taller drivers!) and much more (see detailed list below). No unpleasant odors, including no smells of cigarettes or cigars. It doesn't matter whether you're sitting in the front seats, second row or third row, all of the seats offer generous legroom, headroom and elbow room. Removing the third-row seat is easy: Flip the seatback forward, yank a bar at the foot of the seat and pull the seat toward the rear of the vehicle; it glides along on rollers. Excursion's rear cargo doors are split three ways. You can swing the glass hatch up for quick access to gear. Below the hatch is a pair of half-height doors, like Dutch doors. So they can be opened when you've got a trailer attached, and can be swung nearly 180 degrees for easier access. This arrangement also offers much better visibility rearward than vertical split "barn doors".
