Vehicle Detail
1972 HO 455 Trans Am VIN: 2V87X2N506712 This is an original 1972 Trans Am that was born white with blue interior with an 455HO engine, automatic transmission, AC and power windows. Only 1286 Total Trans Ams were produced in 1972. These cars rarely come up for sale. This car is a good opportunity for someone to be able to afford the price of a rare muscle car. This car needs a full restoration. I will describe it as best that I can but I welcome inspections from anyone that is interested. The frame appears to be solid. I don’t see anything more serious than normal surface rust. All the body panels have at least some rust. Mostly in the lower areas. The rear splash pan and trunk are the worst areas on the car. The trunk floor will need to be replaced along with most of the trunk lip along the rear of the car. The interior is in poor condition. The console lid has been replaced with a home made one, the dash pad is badly cracked, the headliner is gone, the seats need recovering, speaker holes have been cut in the console and door panels. The passenger door will not open with either handle. The panel will need to be removed to manually unlatch the lock. I did not put the car on a lift but I looked at the floor pans and they don’t look to bad. Maybe a patch here and there. There are no signs of any damage from accidents. The motor and trans are not original to this car. I have not verified any numbers or cast dates but I was told that the motor and trans were replaced over 20 years ago. The motor is supposed to be a 400 which it does appear to be, but again, I have not verified it so I don’t know what year it is or what is inside. I was told that it ran when it was parked 20 years ago. The SC title is from 1982. It had the same South Carolina owner for the last 30 years and has been stored for the last 20 years. The wheels appear to be original, the two rear tires only hold air for a short time, the brakes don’t work, the front spoiler and front parking lights are missing. It’s Missing a corner piece of rear window moulding. One gas tank strap was damaged from pulling the car up on the flatbed. The ac equipment that bolts to the motor is missing like the compressor but other body mounted AC equipment is still present. I hope that I have made it clear that this car needs work. It is a rare car that is worth restoring. Nice examples of 72 TransAms sell between $30k-$75k. I will consider interesting trades. I would especially be interested in a 2008-2010 KTM Enduro motorcycle. I will not have access to the car between Dec 18th -28th. Therefore you will not be able to pick up or inspect between those dates. I reserve the right to end the auction early if someone negotiates a deal before the end of the auction. Please do not bid if you do not intend to purchase. I will delete bids from bidders with negatice feedback or no feedback unless you email me first to discuss your situation. $1000 deposit via paypal or bank wire is due within 48 hours of winning the auction. On Dec-16-10 at 17:37:55 PST, seller added the following information: New Flash: Someone asked me to check the code on the block for them. I was shocked to find the code YE on the passenger side front of the block. This block is an original 455HO for an automatic trans. It is someone's LUCKY DAY because this will save them several thousand dollars to locate and purchase a correct block. The restoration just became alot easier! Good luck bidding or feel free to ask me for my number to make an offer and purchase before the auction ends. Steve
