Vehicle Detail

Normal 0 false false false MicrosoftInternetExplorer4 Up for sale is my 1965 Convertible. I bought this car from the daughter of the original owner off a farm in Boulder, CO. The old lady used to drive around Fort Collins with a cowbell hanging from the side mirror and a stuffed animal dog in the passenger seat. The original owner got too old to drive and the daughter was given the Bug. She had the motor professionally rebuilt in 2004 by Verner's in Boulder, and she had seatbelts installed. When I got this Bug it had 3 layers of seat covers over the originals, and it had shag carpet everywhere inside. I took the seat covers off and the shag out, to reveal a very original interior. The front seats were ripped up so I ordered original style seat covers from Wolfsburg West and had them professionally installed with new high density foam, they feel great! I have driven this Bug since I bought it and it now has 43k miles. I believe this to be actual mileage and I have records from 1994 indicating 38k miles. Judging by the condition, I would say that it only has 43k original miles. This is a very original Bug that has been driven and maintained for 45 years. I was told it had been driven to Vegas once by the old lady and her husband. It does have some 70's bodywork under the repaint, but remains a very clean original example. This car has never been hit front or rear. It has been driven all its life so there is some rust as is typically found on Convertibles that haven't undergone restoration. Most notably, the back bumper brackets have been replaced and the support rails are rusted out. The heater channels are mostly solid and the heat really cooks! I drove this Bug last winter and all last summer. It is a good dependable car. I believe the generator is slowly going out. This Bug is still 6v and comes with a 6v Optima, but I would recommend upgrading to 12v. The original AM stereo still works with the original speaker with great clarity. I listen to AM all the time while driving. All the lights and turn signals work as they should. The top on this Bug is original, but someone painted the headliner on the inside, white. It looks great up or down. Comes with the original top boot, which has just recently started to dry and tear. There are a few tears starting to happen on the top as it is drying out from age, but it is still in original condition and does insulate the car very well. I have driven this Bug when it is snowing or raining and have no problems staying warm and dry. At one point I had a key made for the glovebox door and the hood lock, so I know the locks operate, but I've since lost that key. The key code for those is SC 175. One of the door handles is also SC 175, but the other one isn't. I have two keys for the ignition. The coolest part is the original dealer badge from Ed Carroll in Fort Collins, which is still an active VW dealership to this very day! This is a very original 1965 Convertible from Colorado, and I hope the next owner can enjoy it as much as I have! This car should be viewed in person, but I can take 2 million pictures for you as well. I am offering it at a fair price so that the next person can enjoy it as much as I have, and not just garage it. This car is meant to be driven. I am willing to deal with people from out of town, but I do not accept out of town checks. Payment must be made in cash or a direct wire transfer of funds. I can help load this Bug on a car hauler if you choose to ship it.Clean, clear, Colorado title. If you have any questions, please contact me. I am not entertaining trades at all. Thanks!More pictures can be viewed here: http://smg.photobucket.com/albums/v449/66Kombi/1965%20Convertible/
