This is a 1981 Mercedes Benz 240D with a 4 speed manual transmission. In our house, it is affectionately known as "Old Yeller" and I really hate to see it go. However, our oldest child is turning 16 next week and Mom says his car has to have an air bag and all the safety bells and whistles. It is a good running car. No matter how long it's been since it's been driven, it always fires right up and takes you where you want to go. It is mostly a car that zips around town, but it has occasionally made the 80 mile round trip drive to work without any problems. Here are the problems that I know of: ~It has an aftermarket radio/cd player in it that comes on and works, but there is a crackling/static/sensitive volume issue. ~There is some rust on the front under the grille and headlights. ~The seats have a couple of nicks in them, but no major tears or rips or stains. ~The gear shift knob has a tear on it. It's not bad, but it's not perfect. ~I don't know if you can tell from the pictures or not, but the driver's front fender is a slightly different color yellow than the rest of the car. I don't exactly know what happened because it happened with the owner before us. It's one of those things that most people don't notice, but once it's been pointed out to you, it really sticks out. ~The dash has a couple of cracks, and I believe I pictured that. That's all I can think of that is a "problem". It's not immaculate, it's a 30 year old car that has been used and loved (but not abused). This car still runs on regular diesel, but I know a lot of people buy these to convert to biodiesel. It has manual windows. It does NOT have a sunroof (but the headliner of the car is also in very good shape). I had no problems with the A/C this summer. It was good and cold. The tires look to be in good condition. We are non smokers and there has been no smoking in this car since we've had it, and we've owned it for a couple of years. I don't know about previous owners, but it does NOT have a smoke smell to it. Please email if you have any questions. I had a really, really bad experience with the last car I tried to sell on ebay. The "buyer" never paid, although they did ask for extensions of the payment date. SO, this time I want to make it clear. The deposit MUST be received within 48 hours or I will relist the car. On Nov-13-10 at 19:26:38 PST, seller added the following information: For those of you questioning the mileage, as someone has pointed out to me, I did misread the odometer. It is 263,760. My apologies. My husband was not home when I listed it and I am used to the tenths being there on the end. I was wondering why I was getting so many questions about the mileage! :) On Nov-16-10 at 18:55:55 PST, seller added the following information: Some people have emailed asking about the underside of the car, so I have just added pictures of all 4 jack points.
