Vehicle Detail
1969 Ford Torino GT 428 CJ Survivor Super Rare 69 428 Torino GT Fastback with 50,700 actual miles. This is a real deal 3 owner car that has never left Raleigh, N.C. The car was sold new at Helmold Ford and still retains its metal delaership tag on the rear panel. The original 428 CJ has never been apart and the same goes for the C6 auto transmission and 9" Nodular iron 3.00 gear rear. This is a loaded up car with PS, PDB, Factory AC, AM radio, buckets, console, sport mirrors, factory tach and clock. The car was traded back to Helmold in 1972 with 17,000 miles on the clock. The 2nd owner kept the car until the end of 2008 when I purchased the car. The 2nd owner put the car in storage in 1985 and the last inspection is still on the windshiled. I had the car painted its original Lime Gold BC/CC in early 2009. Normal maintenance and wear items were replaced and car was licensed and put back on the road. The car has not been shown or offered to the public for sale. Exterior: The car has its original body panels, trunk and floorpans. This car has not been patched up. All of the glass is original and has never had any rust under them. Car is super straight. The trunk paint is all original and excellent. No rust in the deck lid or hood lips. Trunk has its spare, jack/handle and mat. The paint is a quality job and looks great. All trim is either original of NOS. I put on NOS door handles, marker bezels, taillight bezels and antennae. Front bumper was rechromed and rear is original. The trim looks like a 50K mile car and is very nice. Interior is all original with no rips, tears, marks etc on the seats. Carpet is original. The rear speaker panel is original and has never been cut. The AM radio plays great. Bucket seat trim and console are in awesome condition. There are no cracks in the dash pad and the gauges are all clear. All seats belts are in the car.The wood steering wheel was put on in 69 by the original owner.Super nice interior. Engine: Underhood has had some light cleanup and is otherwise original. The 428 CJ has never been out of the car. I replaced the original water pump, fuel pump, plugs, hoses, wires etc. I kept the original Carter X fuel pump and water pump. A new real seal and gasket set for the windage tray and oil pan were installed as well as metal timing chain for safety. Ford used a plastic timing gear set originally. The 735 holley is the original date coded unit from Ford and not the 9510-U or universal model sold over the counter back in the 70s. The carb was rebuilt and concours plated by Pony Carbs. The engine runs great with awesome power at all ranges. The car will pull like a rocket ship. These 428's were definetly under rated at 335HP. The yellow top factory coil is in place as well as the original engine ID Tag, Rear Tag, Door Tag, Trans Tag etc. There are no whines from the differential. The dates codes I have checked on the engine match the build date of the car. Car still has its original H pipe in place. The car runs and drives great. EXTRAS: Include original argent GT wheels and caps, 3 NOS wheel wheel moldings, New correct H-pipe and mufflers, nice original GT grill and bezels and other misc. Original owners manual and packet is in glove box but no protecto-plate. NOTE: I will give the buyer the option of installing a mint set of 69 chrome GT wheels or the Cragars both not both. Payment within 7 days by wire, cash or certified moneyorder. 500$ deposit with 24hrs. I reserve the right to end the auction at any time. No warranty given or implied. I prefer you call rather then email as a friend is listing the car for me. Contact: 919 395 7836. Inspections are welcomed.
