Vehicle Detail

Up for auction is a pristine 1977 BMW R100S that is likely one of the cleanest R100S's you'll find. This is a matching numbers frame/engine, as you'd expect. The snowflake wheels were ordered when the bike was delivered to the original buyer back in 1977. This bike has a good writeup by previous owner Ken Rockwell on his website at http://www.kenrockwell.com/bmw/index.htm I got the bike in 2006 and have refreshed the bike meticulously. There's even a bit of polishing on the carb tops, front cover, and oil pan. All fluids were changed a few months ago. I put in an Odyssey battery and keep it on the battery tender 24/7. Flip the petcocks and she'll crank up in a turn or two. The mufflers and headers were in poor shape so I replaced those with EPCO's which are really nice replacement pipes. The rears shocks are new Progressives and the front springs were changed to Progressives when the fluid was changed out. Gators were also put on to protect those tubes. The speedo/tach were rebuilt a couple of years ago and operate perfectly. The mileage carried over to the rebuild, of course. Those are the original miles and the bike shows for that. For a little better brake feel, I opted to put the coated stainless steel braid lines up front. I noticed better feel and would continue with them. Some prefer....some don't. Over the years, that "rotomolded" fairing started showing it's age. The mounts would crack at the attach point and a sloppy repair of epoxy goo was attempted. So, I got a new BMW fairing for the R100S and had Kent Holt of Holt BMW exactly match the fairing color off the original. That alone was a $1,200 refreshment. It matches the bike precisely and is authentic BMW quality with a perfect Glasurit job. I re-powdercoated the centerstand and it's now fantastic. Only real paint blemish is shown on that back tail piece. It's a small chip less than a dime's width. A few light scratches here and there but amazingly preserved for a 33 year old piece of history. Installed farkles are 1) battery tender plug, 2) Brown sidestand, 3) braided stainless brake lines. Otherwise, all stock except for what's mentioned above. I have a lot of documentation to include the original manuals, spare keys, service records, CD with scanned documents, and original BMW advertising. Priceless stuff and it will go with the bike. Take a look at the pics. I've got great feedback and I do what I say I will do. I expect the same from you if you are the winning bidder. I can deliver within a 250 mile radius of Asheville, NC for $1.00/mile one way or I'll assist with a transportation company of your choice. I didn't put a reserve on this amazing bike. However, I'll start at a reasonable $4,500 and include a BIN price as well. I've got close to $10 in it now. Good luck bidding and please request any additional information you require. I should be able to get back with you quickly. $500 down on winning bid and full payment before delivery. Paypal is preferred. ***Note: Images seem kind of small but are over 1600px in width before upload. So, if you'd like better fotos, just ask and I'll email as many as you want. Mr. Ken Rockwell, previous owner of this beautiful R100S, gave me a nice write-up on his website. Ken knows photography and has been gracious enough to put a nice shot of my bike right there at his "Today's Updates" page. It's a great shot and so much better than the "re-sizing" job Ebay imposes. Spend some time and peruse Ken's site. It's chock full of great photography information. Thanks Ken! http://kenrockwell.com/tech/00-new-today.htm
