1999 VW JETTA MK4, NO RESERVE!! UP for auction is a 1999 VW JETTA MK4, AUTOMATIC, 2.0 non-turbo motor. Manual windows, power locks, power trunk, manual seats. Great running car with miles, HOWEVER, 3 weeks ago, check ENGINE LIGHT CAME ON and the car will NOT SHIFT OUT OF 2nd GEAR!! PLEASE NOTE THIS!! Car has 177,444 miles and still drives great. Car starts 1st shot every time and motor runs strong. Body is clean, but there are some dings, small dent and rear bumper has small tear near the bottom. Paint is OK, but there are scratches here and there. Interior is BLACK cloth and in good shape, no tears or rips, and in decent shape. Comes with aftermarket CD player (Eclipse 5441). THE BAD: ABS light is on. A/C does not work, (possible charge??), although heat works, the ventilation fan only works on setting 1 (does not blow at higher speeds). Oil dipstick is broken, but you can still read it. Glove box door hinge broken: it stays closed, but flops down when opened. Key Fob battery is bad (??), doesn't lock/unlock doors (must use key). Inspection has expired. THE GOOD: Tires are in almost new condition. Brakes work great; emergency brake holds with 2 clicks. All doors open and close freely and windows operate normally. Car drives nice and straight, starts every time. Motor sounds very good, without any kind of noises. THE CAR RUNS AND CAN BE DRIVEN LONG DISTANCES, as I have been driving with the non-shifting condition for awhile, the only difference is high RPM at higher speeds I not sure if it is in "limp" mode (as a neighbor mentioned to me - whatever that means), the transmission oil needs to be changed, a module repaired, or what. Car goes into all gears (Park, Reverse, Drive), just will not go past 2nd gear when in drive (or 3 or 4 position), please be aware of this. I am not the original owner of this car, and do not know any history (or the when the timing belt was changed). The car does not appear to ever been hit or damaged and there is no rust. I am upgrading to a newer PASSAT. Also, please note that you are buying a 11 year old car, with 177,XXX miles, please do not expect that you are buying a new car.
