Vehicle Detail

I am selling this for a elderly friend that does not eBay or use a computer. Everything functions perfectly. This car can be taken immediately to a track or driven on the street. No work is necessary...it's ready to go. 1966 Alfa Romeo Sprint GT Coupe 1.6 liter Race Car ~ Modified to mimic a GTA in Italy right away after the original owner purchased it at a dealership in Rome. The car had Plexiglas door windows installed, a roll cage, race exhaust system installed, and was lightened 200 pounds right away before it’s racing career started. The interior was changed to only two race seats and racing belts. Right now the windows are glass ~ they were put back to glass in 1994. Serial Number: AR 616283 The car was was campaigned in Europe for 15 years. It’s home was Germany where it’s original owner resided. In 1981 the car was sold to an American who wanted to export it to race in the U.S. It was brought to the U.S. through New York in 1982. During 1982 the car was transported to Colorado where it competed in the Pikes Peak Hill Climb Challenges by it’s second owner. It was also raced in California every year with that owner. In 1993 the car was purchased by it’s current owner who was a mechanic for a Ferrari private race team. At the time he purchased it the engine was not functional. He spent several months on a part-time basis to rebuild the engine and modify it to a race injector system. The car was then brought to Florida to race at Sebring and Moroso. In 2004 the car stopped racing and has been a garage queen for the owner. The owner is an Italian who immigrated to the U.S. in 1983 to work for a private Ferrari race team. He began his career at the Ferrari factory in 1959 working for Enzo’s road car manufacturing. In 1965 he was given the honor to help open the Ferrari dealership in South Africa where he was the head service technician. I point that out to emphasize who better to upkeep this car...that’s why it runs impeccably. The car currently has 200hp and a top speed of appx. 140mph. It starts without hesitation, idles perfectly, sounds incredible, shifts smooth, and goes like snot. It’s fully sorted and ready for the track. The information passed from the first owner to the second owner to the current owner is that the car has never been in an accident or collision of any kind. Unfortunately there is no written record of it's race history. That is why it's being sold as a good Alfa to go race or drive on the streets instead of an expensive piece of history. The seller wants it sold and does not want it to sit around because it currently is in tip-top shape. If you have a reasonable offer I will take it to the seller and close the auction early. I realize that all the serious buyers will want more information than I can personally tell you, hence I will give to those that are serious the seller's phone number to be able to speak with him about micro details ~ the engine, the suspension, the exhaust, etc, etc, etc. Giulia Sprint GT (1963–1966) Tipo: 105.02. Motore: 00502. The Giulia Sprint GT was the first model introduced, and was manufactured from 1963 to 1966. It featured the original form of the Bertone body with the scalina (stepped) or "step front" (the leading edge of the hood/bonnet sat 1/4 an inch above the nose of the car). It can be most easily distinguished from other models by the following features: Badging: chrome script reading "Giulia Sprint GT" on bootlid, one round Alfa Romeo badge on the grille heart, Bertone badges behind the front wheelarches. Flat, chrome grille featuring a plain rectangular mesh with no bars. The car was fitted with the 1570 cc displacement version of the engine (78 mm bore × 82 mm stroke, 6.38 L oil sump, 7.41 L radiator). Dunlop disc brakes were fitted all around. The rear brakes featured an unusual arrangement with the slave cylinders mounted on the axle tubes, operating the calipers by a system of levers and cranks.
